Re: NORWAY 2018

An acoustic live performance from the one true deserving winner of tomorrow's MGP: Vidar Villa xdance

Nothing spectacular, but he's able to hit the notes well enough, has at least more charisma than a piece of damp cardboard and seems to have backing singers in the right places, so he's avoided some potential pitfalls. Now just to hope that he his staging and performance tomorrow are enough for the surprise win!

I have a feeling there will be at least one MILF on stage... dont know how to feel about that. Could go either way, I guess... Great fun - or totally cringy...

Re: NORWAY 2018

Is there a danger that people will vote for Rybak because of who he is, rather than his guide how not to write a song?

Nope... I dont think so, at least not to a wide extent.... 2009 was a long time ago. Rybak is very well known here - but he really hasnt gotten any hits for ages.

Re: NORWAY 2018

Norway's MGP continues it's steady decrease in quality this year, unfortunately. It's a better line-up than 2017, but still pretty disappointing when comparing to 2015, for example.
I think a lot of the songs build well in the verses but end up in a disappointing or bland chorus (Charla K or Rebecca are examples of this). Other songs disappoint troughout the 3 entire minutes (I'm looking at you Rybak. What a pile of crap, I can't believe a previous Eurovision record holder would come back with this).
For now I'm hoping for Aleksander Wallman to sass Eurovision with his entry in Lisbon! It's catchy and it builds pretty well, unlike most of the other entries.

I can't speak for Norway in particular, but I think e.g. Loreen in Sweden last year - where she didn't even reach the finals - shows that huge Eurovision winners can absolutely flop in a national final if people don't enjoy their new song as much. And there was much less time between Loreen's win and new attempt (5 years) than there was between Alexander's (9 years), so if anything the goodwill towards Alexander could be more faded than it was for Loreen. I don't want to write him off before I see what he's got planned for the stage performance though.

About Moren Din:

I have a feeling there will be at least one MILF on stage... dont know how to feel about that. Could go either way, I guess... Great fun - or totally cringy...

I'm hoping that they essentially try to recreate the video clip, which I think is brilliant - yes, bring along the MILF, but also make sure to have the guy playing the role of "friend who looks increasingly disturbed about the whole situation"

Also, I just found a decent translation of the lyrics, which makes it all even better:

Re: NORWAY 2018

Will i get my winner tonight? Come on Rybak, teach us xmusic xheya
And even if my second favorite wins (Ida Maria) she can still be my 2018 winner, THAT'S how good this NF is xheat:cool:
In case you send Stella & Alexandra i'll put you near my current 2nd favorite, San Marino (very similar songs, right?)
I'd be more than happy with A. Walmann, but it's a strong year, and my top 10 is cramped already, so i didn't dare to put his name as my signature, but he has a shot:D

I love Scandilove, it would easily be my favorite in any other NF, (except moldova) but it almost looks like Rybak himself has watched my youtube top videos trying to create a perfect song for me.. (it looks like he wasn't satisfied with 6th place for his fairytale):lol:xyes

OMG I hope that Rybak won't win the whole thing tonight. Rebecca would rather do the trick.

i wish i could be as hyped as you in regards of my country's nf... they are holding it near to where i live but since the winner is predictable then i'm not going to celebrate :(

Well I hope the camera catches your posters so we could see you on TV yet again, this time a Norwegian one :D

Re: NORWAY 2018

The general opinion in this forum seems to be that the quality of the norwegian MGP is diminishing. I couldnt disagree more. I find MGP 2018 to be a big step in the right direction compared to the last years editions.
For the first time in many years I would be fine with several of the entrites winning.
Alejandro Fuentes, Rebecca and Vidar Villa would be my 3 top favourites. I know the norwegian people will not let Tengo Otra win, though.
I would also be fine with Aleksander W, Rybak, Stella/Alexandra going to Lisboa.

If Rebecca win tonight, then there are two songs in the first half of Semi 2 entitled "who we are"

Hej Norge, may we have cuddly bear Aleks W. one more time at this year's Eurovision Song Contest? Guy has one hell of a voice and his song is an earworm (the good type of earworm, that is).
Mange takk! xhug
