In Moscow, Belgrade and especially Baku, too much crime that did not stop to make a good contest. I think the main problem of Malmö - a small arena and a losses of Copenhagen.

As I said earlier, Malmö is a really nice and fun city with night clubs for any taste and there is always København if things are not enough. Sweden and Denmark are open, democratic and friendly countries and all Scandinavians loves music. If anything, Malmö is missing nature, things todo outside the city. Stroll the beaches is one thing though. I didn't think we needed to tell this.

The thing is: The arena isn't big enough, simple as that!

Anyway Percy Nilsson, the owner of Malmö arena has already signed the contract. We have to deal with it now.

I think it's a great opportunity to visit Sweden and Denmark at the same time.

I don't know who said it that EBU wanted smaller arena.

Asked it to Sietse Bakker and he replied on my twitter:

Sietse Bakker ‏@SietseBakker
@BelgiumEsc Nee, dat klopt niet. Malmö had de beste kaarten. Denk aan beschikbaarheid arena, hotels, etc. ‪#malmoitis‬

Translation:

Certainly not. Malmö was the best option. The availabilty of the arena, hotels,etc...

As a response of that I made some of the complains that esc-fans have, but it stays quite xd

A reason why not Friends Arena was picked according to Sietse Bakker: getting so much people for the final is no problem, but for the semis it's much more harder...

As a citizen of Malmö, it seems I need to contribute with some correct information, otherwise this thread is just getting worse and worse.

Firstly, crime is really not an issue here. As every city Malmö has some bad areas, but these are bad according to swedish standards and would probably look like paradise according to the standard of any other european city. As long as you avoid them you can be sure to be safe here.

Secondly, the commuter train lines in the Copenhagen area are totally integrated with the ones in Scania (english for "Skåne", the southermost province in Sweden where Malmö is located). All trains between Copenhagen and Malmö stop just outside the Malmö Arena and the next stop on the danish side is Copenhagen Airport - Kastrup. There is a train leaving every 20 minutes, in rush hours even every 10 minutes.

There are no boats or ships going between Copenhagen and Malmö. All commuting is done via the Öresund bridge, either by car, bus or train.

I can also recommend you looking for hotel rooms to look for vacancies in the other cities next to Malmö. The city of Lund is 22 minutes away by train directly from the arena without any transfer, the city of Helsingborg is 50 minutes away (60 km from Malmö). Copenhagen Central station will be 30 minutes away. Other options could be Landskrona and Eslöv.

The countryside around here is beautiful in May. It's mainly farming country but still with lots of adventures around here. And remember - you will have easy access to the whole Öresund region with both Scania in Sweden and Sealand in Denmark.

Welcome all to Malmö!

No, but thanks :):)

event supervisor of ESC? What does he do? Decide the interval acts perhaps?

I presume helping the organizing country with all the things that need to be done, and see if everything goes well in eurovision weeks:p
he's a dutchmen, more i don't know

I think it would be very easy to scale down the Friends Arena if they should want to. 35000 tickets is no problem any night IMO

Cactus, I appreciate that you defend Malmö and personally for me, I have nothing against you guys
but the problem for me is one thing: the arena:)
