What country are you talking about? Kazakhstan is not Slavic....

I wrote that Kazakhstan belongs to the East Slavic cultural sphere, not that they are ethnically Slavic. However, about 20% of the country are ethnic Russians and around 2% ethnic Ukrainians, aprox 1% are ethnic German. Kazakhstan pretty much belongs to the East Slavic and ex- USSR cultural, social and political sphere, and while they really are a border between Russian Orthodox culture, Turkic and Central-Asian, they are still having most in common with countries like Russia, Ukraine and Belarus rather than China or Turkey. Russian language is still the dominating language in Kazakhstan aswell.

It still baffles me that years later people still refuse to even think about Kazakhstan in Eurovision despite the fact they're territorially in Europe (partially) and take part in our football qualifications etc.

This! I say it every year, but it's like people are unwilling to accept the fact that Kazakhstan is indeed a partly European country.

Kazakhstan is European country partly geographically and fully politically, BUT they don't meet the criteria for EBU membership at this point, so they can't take part in Eurovision. First they have to get the membership in Council of Europe as the European Broadcasting Area borders cannot be changed.

This is fine. My point is that even with this people would still be against them joining which makes no sense.

Honestly I don't find it normal that you agree in Tunisia's debut but you don't want Kazakhstan which actually is part of Europe xshrug

I'm most curious about their distribution of votes to Turkey, Azerbaijan and Russia. Also if they send in Ulytau it would be kinda new flavour for the contest (if instrumential entries are allowed)
