Not too bad for a song released as a cd album less than a month ago and that was said by critics and journalists it was not going to sell.

It just CAN'T be Sanremo. It doesn't meet requirements. And Naples has no reliable arena. So it's left between Rome, Turin and Milan.

We need place with a capacity at least of 10.000 people. I don't think that in Sanremo there is what we need. And, first of all, there isn't an airport, a basic requirement for the organization.
Austrian news paper Kurier asked Austrian and German ESC correspondents from Eurovision Austria, wiwibloggs and Prinz-Blog about this year's ESC line-up. Generally they were underwhelmed and Italy already looks like the apparent winner, as it is the only outstanding song so far.
Also Andi Knoll of ORF stated yesterday in the national final that Italy's move to choose Il Volo is a very smart one. What I did not know is that Il Volo had a worldwide No. 1 album in 2011, so their fanbase is already really huge.
I have to correct myself, according to Wikipedia Il Volo were Number One in Austria only. But I didn't know them before. Did they ever appear on an ORF show?! I

Well they finally exited Malta and Switzerland but they now arrive in Estonia and Austria
So far I believe they have made appearances in Spain, Greece, Malta, Switzerland and Slovenia
