Italy, Italy.... I think you're playing the same dangerous France played a couple of years ago... Do you remember that flop? They are great singers, don't get me wrong, but I wouldn't be surprised if they ended bellow top10... Actually quite a few opera songs ended on the right side of the scoreboard over the last ten years... Just my humble opinion, but good luck anyways!

Is it Maribor or Ljubljana next year then?

AGAIN????????? For God sake, this is NOTHING alike Sognu. NOTHING. Plus, they all sing WAY BETTER than that crap French Tenor (please go to YouTube and search their performance on Nobel Prize 2 years ago.)
I really tired to see EVERYTIME exactly THE SAME argument, Jesus Christ. Try a new one.

I guess what Carian meant is that the genre ifself (opera-pop) never had a wide appeal so far in Eurovision, whatever the song and performance, so the hype may not be justified. And he clearly said that Il Volo were great vocalists, this wasn't a criticism. ;)

They are great vocalists who can sing live exactly like they sing in the studio version: I think nobody can match this ability among the ESC entries. Why should they flop? They may not be understood, but I am positive they won't score badly. Let's watch, hear and see. :-)

You don't even have to look up the Nobel Prize from 2 years ago. Just look at their performance of this very song at San Remo and right away all Sognu 2.0 comparisons can be put to rest ;) The France 2011 comparison is very lazy since Amuary was having trouble singing it everytime he had to and these guys have shown they can do it just like the CD without problem

Besides this song has already made some dents on iTunes in multiple participating countries so its clearly being embraced more then Sognu was. Just wait till they perform it at ESC to a larger audience :)

If I distance myself from what Carian said, I'd say there's a difference between getting a top 15, a top 10, a top 5 or winning, it depends on what you call flop. I think this entry will do well but winning? I have doubts about it because the genre itself is risky, lyrical voices aren't to the liking of everyone.

You know, journalists and experts here in Italy were saying that they could have won Sanremo but their genre was not liked by the people, therefore they were not going to sell a disc. They went gold record twice, with single song and album. There is people who likes this kind of music in Italy, and I am positive there is people who likes this kind of music in Europe.

Well, I'm not a fan of the genre (for example, I didn't really like France 2011) but I love this song. I believe it's a good mixture between classical music and ballad and most people I know over here like it, too..and, let me tell you, we're not really into classical music..lol

Now I have listened to Sognu, since everyone is comparing the Italian song with it. In my opinion Grande Amore is much more balancing pop and operatic voices, while Sognu was too much leaning on the operatic side. Even when they sing more on the operatic side Il Volo doesnt sound like that, except for some romanza they did like Mattinata by Leoncavallo, or a solo sung by Piero, No Puede ser, from a zarzuela.

Sognu aimed to be opera, but there was one thing missing: an operatic voice. The singer sounded hoarse.

Finally someone said something appropriate.

I have to make something clear. As Tuorem correctly interpreted my words, I was not trying to denigrate Italian guys, but rather say that the story with Italy so far dangerously resembles the French story from a few years ago, yes, the famous flop of Sognu. It do not question their abilities of singing, neither do I question the abilities of that French guy. Saying that the French guy is not a good opera singer is a pile of nonsense. He is awesome, but on the big night, when everyone (especially the French) expected him to win (or at least easily take a top 5 position), he cracked under pressure... Moreover, opera-like songs are not a novelty to ESC and none of previous opera-like entries fared well, this is a fact! As Tuorem said, all I wanted to say it is a risky genre which not only Slovenia already tested in ESC, but even Sweden (and God forgive me, I loved Malena's LA VOIX and I still do). Finally, all fans of the Italian song, remember not only that the genre is not innovative, but also that the trio of singers is not an innovation. Of course, everyone has heard of the GRANDISSIMI Pavaroti and company, but even a shity place like my homeland Slovenia has its own version of Il Divo or Il Volo, if it pleases you more, called EROICA, a trio of opera singers, whose career extends now already over the entire decade. So, if you think that it will impress Slovenians, perhaps, but it is also possible that many Slovenians will just simply say: OK, another Il Divo, another Eroica, but we saw this, next please! So, my opinion is that the guys will have to rely heavily on convincing professional juries, but if they screw up only a bit, their are going to hit the bottom - hard and painfully. That is all what I wanted to say. BUT! I still think they have great voices, they are good at what they are doing, however, I am still not sure that they have the whole package to take the win in ESC 2015. I am out. Thanx for you attention and good luck to Italy!

I am not saying that they are going to win, nor that their genre is new. It is operatic pop and well known since the '90ties. What I want to say, is: don't worry, they are not going to give poor performance live. The most hard and difficult stage they ever had and will was the Sanremo stage, because they presented before the whole country to prove who they were in their homeland. They said all the experiences in the big American arenas didn't make, added together, the emotion of Sanremo stage. Fear not, they will sing beautifully live, as they always did.

This is some strong song and jury might help this song more than televotes. But I only wonder if song like this is not too ''good'' for ESC? The song is great, but do you remember what happened to France in 2011?
