Of course, I didn't think about it, but now that you told me, I am curious as well! I will look for information.

I'm really nervous about the shorter version. I love this song like a lot lot but if they cut it in the wrong places, I'd be really disappointed. I guess they can cut the first verse in half which would take them closer to the three minutes mark. But other than that, I don't know what else can be taken out.....

It doesn't have to be cut down to exactly three minutes, right? Iceland's song last year was 3:14 and there have been some others around that length in previous years.

Really? Where can I find official information about the exact length required for the Eurovision? Thanks in advance.

Really? Where can I find official information about the exact length required for the Eurovision? Thanks in advance.

The official rules are here, and here's the part regarding length:

The maximum duration of each song is three minutes. Any song/performance which is longer may be disqualified [...].

There does seem to be some leeway, however, and I'm noting that not from any official rules but just from my iTunes. My versions of the songs are the ones I've ripped from the official Eurovision CDs, so they're the proper ESC versions of the songs, and there are certainly plenty over 3:00, though only by a short amount. I was wrong earlier in remembering the length of Iceland last year - they were actually the shortest, at 2:45, not the longest - but there are others. Estonia 2011 and Macedonia 2014 were 3:14, Italy 2013 was 3:12, Azerbaijan 2008 was 3:08 and so on. Songs can't be much over 3:00, but it seems there are enough exceptions if it's just by ten seconds or so.

EDIT: I just checked the live versions and it seems they had to shave some further time off for those, as Estonia 2011 and Macedonia 2014 were both ten seconds shorter in their live performances. I can't really see where they did it from, though. I'm confused now.

In studio versions, some songs are a bit longer than 3 minutes.
But in live version, all the songs have to be no longer than 3 minutes.

Thanks ZoboCamel and. Gre for the clarifications. I think they will stick to the three minutes anyway, out of fear of being disqualified.

I hope they will edit the song the way Matt suggested. I'd hate to have the final build up of the song cut down abruptly, or worse, have the tempo messed up in parts.

First time hearing this song, and I really like it. Powerful, beautiful and they have fantastic voices. Very good selection by Italy in my opinion.

What did I just realized... I have given this song 0, but I think this were the emotions after the first listening I didn't like it. But it has grown a lot in me.. and I decided to give this 8 points :)

For our Italian friends, did they spoke something else about Eurovision or their final version for Eurovision tonight on Porta a Porta? :)

This is a true masterpiece, I must say. This is the one to beat on 23rd May. It might be the 3rd victory for :it: x12s

No, it was just said that they will be the Italian representative at Eurovision, that Italy won the contest already 25 years ago and they were trying to take back Eurovision to Italy. Everybody wished good luck, and that's it.

I would prefer a Turin. They have a indoor arena - Torino Palasport Olimpico, with bigger capacity than 15k (exactly it's 18,500 for concerts).
