I'm not a very big fan of the song, but I can't deny that it's certainly creative and unique. Unfortunately, I also think that her live performance & staging couldn't hold a candle to the music video. Or maybe I'm just setting my expectations too high by expecting some crazy and epic performance full of wild energy.

I wanted to answer to this and explain why you were wrong - but it's too much of an effort. To cut it short: you use the term in a different way than the article does. But I don't want to go too off topic.

I know it is so much easier to "just take the ball and go home" instead of accepting that "Sorry, I was wrong, actually such a thing as "Collective IQ" exists and there are even books written about it".

I understand.

That was so cheesily-cringeworthy. TOO much random stuff going on, too forced. She lost her chance, turned it to Romania 2017.

I guess it depends on interpretation of those comments xshrug

As long as it doesn't become personal, I guess it's fine... I mean some people call you a "hater" just because you say you happen to dislike a song, so it's truly what you say person to person.

Sure I agree, anyone should be free and welcome to express any emotion about a song. However, if it is more of a rant, the person shouldn't be surprised to get passionate heat back and expect it without being butthurt. Not many of the usual ranters are any good at that. More often than not they get offended and responds with personal insults. So usually and basically it happens like this: A "hater" express something provocative (I don't know why, maybe to get sympathy or attention), he/she get a heated response (basically GTFO), the hater goes out of character and express a butthurt response OR cowardly doesn't respond at all (which is truly awful). What do you do as a responder? In some rare cases the "hater" actually had a point, a cool approach and then some fun things can happen.

BTW It's not difficult to figure out what I meant with "campaign ranting".
It doesn't matter how much I understand the underlying purpose or origin, I become triggered anyway. I can't help it.

Life is not that serious, take it easy! I really do feel bad for the person whose continuously posting negative stuff in here and even insulting people. This is crazy, catchy and a lot of fun to listen to. I would urgently suggest certain ppl with high IQ to listen and sing along to it as well so they can find some light in their life xrose

I know Israel fanboys are in desperate mood as the "once so sure looking win" is slipping away, but I would urgently suggest some fanboys to start facing the facts ... this song is not winning and if my trust in our (Europeans) taste and musical intelligence proves to be correct its not finishing in top 5 either.

It gave me serious winner vibes last night and the Youtube views suggest it did very well in the televoting. This year is very unpredictable so Israel is definitely in the game!

Ok, then: are you aware that IQ is a different thing than intelligence? There is a collective intelligence but that's not what you meant. And there is no collective IQ. You can talk about an average IQ but that's again something different (and highly debatable what exactly it says about a person or a group of test takers because it depends very much on the construct of the test you are taking.)

But I think we'll leave it at that.

I have an IQ of 130 (average is 100 - 105) and I've listened to it multiple times. It's not one of my favourites, borderline top 10, because I don't like the lyrics, chicken sounds, the staging and her attitude (she seems kinda cocky (do you get it?) to me, I may be wrong, but she just seems a bit too overconfident and 'I am perfect love me or I'll kill you' which I dislike) but it's still a catchy song and I see the appeal, I also have caught myself humming it, which I've never done with Fuego: that song is just very unoriginal to me, it seems to ahve ethnic sounds here and there but minus that I already hear songs like that on the radio daily. Not very special.

Very first paragraph of the link I sent has a sentence: "Collective IQ is a measure of collective intelligence, although it is often used interchangeably with the term collective intelligence."

... so I agree its better if we leave this topic here, before you say something equally stu.. confusing.

And please, if you could, stop using "but that's not what you meant." etc assumptions, because clearly you can not read my mind. Thanks!

I wanted to say something, but you are right - let's focus on the important things.

As for instance: is there ANYTHING you could find appealing in the israeli entry? Like: imagine you take away the lyrics and everything she produces vocally. Is there a melodic or rhythmic element that you could like?

Oh for sure, I actually like the sound and beat of it a lot (and I have said that here before). If we could rip all the 43 songs off of lyrics and visuals "Toy" soundtrack would be in my top 5 easily.

“YouTube thought I would like the Israeli song. I opened it and a horrible song came out of it. Luckily this year I do not have to hear anything.”

Lets Discuss about it :D

YOU guys made him win.

This pretentious fake and arrogant musician, who looks down on his counterparts.

http://wiwibloggs.com/2018/05/09/portugals-salvador-sobral-israels-eurovision-2018/222969/

He's obviously entitled to his opinions, but gosh this guy is such a douche, I mean you can have different taste in music, but the way he thinks he is so above everyone else when he himself made a career out of entering freaking Idol (can it be more fast-food?), then he entered Eurovision, which he apparently loaths, but without it he would be a nobody

He comes across as so bitter and such an insecure little man who is looking down at everything that is fun. Not even my hipster, artsy fartsy, friends are like this, who is he trying to impress really? Because if he thinks this attitude will make him look "cooler" and "smarter", then he is sadly mistaken... i

Will be even more sweet if Israel or Cyprus wins now.

This same discussion has already been going on in the topic for Portugal by the way.

I have had enough of this guy...
I always wanted Portugal to win Eurovision, but not with such an arrogant person.

Eurovision community showed their welcoming spirit by embracing him and his style, we showed him that we have place for anyone, any style.
We have no prejudice.
He is just being ungrateful to the community who made him win it all.
He can be like us and embrace other styles than his.

I'm ready to be attacked by Portuguese fans, bring it on...
