Your opinion stated that people liking the song has low IQ though, which is basically calling lots of people (also on this forum) stupid for not sharing your musical taste xshrug

Read it again. I said nothing about any individuals IQ. I said "collective IQ as Europeans"

Oh plzz, basically you're saying that people who like it have low IQ... doesn't help it if you phrase it as "collective IQ as Europeans", that "collective" you refer to are people, and those people liking this would bring down the IQ of Europeans in your opinion which would naturally mean that those people have lower IQ... there is no other way to interpret this xshrug

It's fine if you don't like the song or find it stupid or whatever, but when calling others stupid for liking it... that's where people will react (rightly so)

Yes as always, a good general rule is:
Do not comment on things you don't like, instead comment on the things you like :D
If you comment on things you don't like, be sure to have a good reason, because you will certainly piss people off. Ranting and negative irony is never fun and cynism awful. Easy to say yes, but good to have in mind.

No, I am basically saying that I would be disappointed of our collective IQ (including me) as Europeans if Israel song would win or finish very high.

Oh, I always comment on things I don't like  , and surely it pisses people off too...

I am however trying to keep in mind that musical taste is subjective, so to question others for their taste in music or make fun of them, now that's pointless... however none of these threads are "fan threads", so if we wanna rant about how awful and idiotic the songs are then I think it's just fine  I guess there's a difference though in targeting the entry and another to target its audience.

Really it might just be my low IQ because of liking Toy but you're saying exactly the same thing but just in other words

ESC is about discussing and argueing and sometimes words fall that may hurt. The thing with the IQ might be provocative, but c'mon, rudeness is something different when you really hurt a certain person. So just let's calm down. :D

May I just say that there is no thing nor concept (not in psychology nor in any other valid scientific field) that is called „collective IQ“.
Just because people use this term does not mean they are referring to something that is part of reality.

Yes, I think you are correct.

Rude

Enjoy being on your high horse and looking down on people liking Toy. I'll enjoy seeing Israel ending up high and be proud of Europeans, for being not so pretentious as you are.

You are so very wrong on this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Collective_intelligence

i also advice some fanboys here to click and read that link to understand (maybe) better what I was saying initially.

Yes and the same struggles go on year after year. There's a fine line somewhere which of course is different from person to person. I usually fully respect comments if there are passion and heart involved. Pure hating is destructive and awful as is the kind of campaign ranting not so uncommon on the forum.

I guess it depends on interpretation of those comments xshrug

As long as it doesn't become personal, I guess it's fine... I mean some people call you a "hater" just because you say you happen to dislike a song, so it's truly what you say person to person.

I wanted to answer to this and explain why you were wrong - but it's too much of an effort. To cut it short: you use the term in a different way than the article does. But I don't want to go too off topic.
