I am pretty sure Jews are familiar with the bible, both old and new testament at least much more aware than many other nations in the world? Am I incorrect?
I never said Netta`s religion has got anything to do with anything. I am just saying that the bible (God) tells believers to live by certain type of values. Forgiveness and giving 2nd, 3rd etc. chances is one of them. Am I incorrect?
And the third point you came up with is just so stupid I don`t really need to reply to this, do I?
ad 1: yes you are wrong. If you bring in the bible and judaism, stick to the book that's relevant to the religion in question. You wouldn't remind a buddhist of hindou vedas, though both religions come from the same source. So why are you reminding jews of a book that is not holy to them?
ad 2: why are you bringing religion then up in the first place? Religious beliefs and commandments are irrelevant in this discussion.
ad 3: yes the third point is extremely stupid - and I think you were not really wanting to say this when you wrote your bible allusion, but if you think through it, then you might realize that what you said means actually this. Because the quote from the bible is NOT saying give another chance. It is saying: turn the other cheek. If you read the context of the quote, then you see that's even more radical. In the next verse (or the previous, I don't quite remember) it says: if somebody takes your coat give him your shirt as well. Jesus is NOT talking about forgiveness in this part of the mountain sermon.
So here you are right - a reply is really not needed. But a bit of cautiousness before posting might be useful sometimes. I understand (because I follow your discussion since quite a while) that this topic really upsets you and you get emotional, but still...
