Thank God the hype is over.

LOL, 98% of public will see it for the first time on 8th May. If there is such thing as fandom hype, Italy wouldn't be 6th in televote last year, but 1st.

Just read in a german blog that the EBU did forbid the looper, because it's a live-instrument that needs too much time to be connected. So the looper is just a fake. In other words she's pulling a romanian piano.
Is that true? Has anyone heard that from a different source.
(If this was already discussed - ignore my post)

I would say that Israel is in sudden danger of non-qualiyfing, as well as Greece, Austria, Belgium.

The staging is just obnoxious and worse than what Mei Finegold did.

Oh really? In some rehearsal videos it sounded different so I was already wondering what happened... maybe the background vocals have to do the looper now?

I saw that her "looper-desk" has only some lights but no looper installed.

Has there ever been a song that was odds on favorite, but failed to qualify from semis? I doubt.

And I am sure Israel will go through too, if not for anything else then at least because commentators will mention this being the favorite both for fans and bookies and people almost feel committed to like that song.

It seems like DJ Bobo was the favourite to win in 2007 weeks before the contest. I can only remember me looking at the odds at some point and seeing it was a pretty close thing between Serbia and Ukraine that year. Can't say for sure when exactly I looked at the odds, my guess would be some days before the semi-final.

About Kate Ryan. Maybe she was the favourite to win at some point, mid april 2006 she was apparently 4th according to nordicbet:

Nevertheless, I don't think we can compare the times from back then with today. A lot has changed since then..

Yes, I've heard this from some other places as well, including a couple of sources who were at the press centre.

I'm not sure how far exactly up the odds she was, but Kristina Pelakova in 2010 was a big favourite.

Interestingly enough Netta once again managed to make it to the YouTube trends in Germany with her rehearsal clip yesterday. She is #48 as of right now. Maybe was even higher yesterday, I dont know.

Was Belgium top fav. that year?

I was looking for the odds of that year before I replied to you and I ended up in a forum where people were posting the odds. Belgium was 5th in the list of the potential winners. So yeah, it was a favorite! And don't forget that 14 years later and we still use the term "Kate Ryan [year]".

My point is, it can happen. A favorite to win can fail to make it to the final. However, I don't think Israel is gonna stay in the semi but neither I believe it will win the whole thing.

There is a huge difference though in being nr. 1 favorite like Israel has been ever since the song came out and being the 5th favorite. My question was ... has odds on favorite (meaning nr. 1 favorite in betting odds) ever failed to qualify.

PS! I would not be sad to see Israel staying in semis, but realistically thinking it is just not very likely to happen.

Ooooh, there is NO WAY Netta will stay in semi, this is good and fun, people will love it! I AM sure. Only she receives 100.000 views per interview even, on the contrary of other favorites like Elina and Mikolas, who receive only 20.000 views. World gone crazy for Netta, she it the biggest star of this year's contest.

She has the most clicks on YouTube because she is the weirdest. If this means getting the most votes in Eurovision, which people have to pay for, as well, is an entirely different question. Furthermore, the voting demographic in Eurovision is different from YouTube, since many older people who don't spend much time on YouTube will vote in Eurovision.

My opinion of this song grows worse and worse every time someone 'reminds' it's likely to win the entire contest. :(:? Which keeps happening quite often these days.
