Seems like Aldrei of seint is the favourite... it's fairly bland...

What do you mean that is the favorite? It only has 5 votes! If you are talking about it being favorite on youtube, that's just because it's Regína, but I don't think it will be chosen in the semifinal.

The votes often tell who's going to make it, but sometimes a song goes through while not doing a good job on polls, I just thought it was interesting to show you guys this to see where the songs stand :)

For anyone who wants an update on the voting poll, here's a little update:

#1:
1. Í síðasta skipti - Friðrik Dór (15 votes)
2. Þú leitar líka að mér - HINEMOA (7 votes)
=. Í kvöld - Elín Sif (7 votes)
4. Augnablik - Stefanía Svavarsdóttir (6 votes)
=. Piltur og Stúlka - Björn og Félagar (6 votes)
=. Myrkrið hljótt (6 votes)

#2:
1. Milljón Augnablik - Haukur Heiðar Hauksson (14 votes)
2. Fjaðrir - SUNDAY (11 votes)
3. Fyrir Alla - CADEM (8 votes)
4. Aldrei of seint - Regína Ósk (5 votes)
=. Brotið Gler - Bjarni Lárus Hall (5 votes)
6. Lítil Skref - María Ólafsdóttir (3 votes)

I personally don't have any opinion on who should qualify, but I love the top 3 in both finals on this poll, would like to swap "Piltur og Stúlka" for either "Í kvöld" or "Þú leitar líka að mér"

I love Fjaðrir. The first time I listened to it, I unintentionally raised my eyebrows and gasped when the bass came in.

Haaa I think I did the same thingxrofl2 Well I gasped when the song suddenly went up a notch, as I was in anticipation of something happening. I wasn't disappointed. It's a good song.

I have to say that I am so surprised of how many good songs there is to choose from in this year‘s Söngvakeppni. Usually it has been one favorite song for me, and maybe 1-2 more that I would be OK with winning if my favorite didn‘t make it. Now, there are 6 songs that I just can‘t make my mind up about, since they are all great IMO, they are very different and could all be a possible winner in my mind. It all comes down to the live performances. After I have seen them on stage, I will hopefully know who to vote for in the final. I love songs from most genres, rock (mostly pop rock), indie, pop, classic. I am not so much for this typical ballad and that is why I don‘t particularly like Erna‘s or Regína‘s songs this year. I just think they are too much of the same that we have heard before.
The songs I really love this year are (in no particular order):

Piltur og stúlka (boy and girl).

The lyrics may be similar to Pollapönk‘s „No prejudice“ last year, but this song just makes me really happy, I just start smiling, it is full of optimism, which I think Europe needs at the moment. As the chorus says:

We are all made from the same cloth
we all sing in the same choir.
It does not matter who I mention
wheather you are small or large.
It is proven once again that
everyone needs praise.
Like the soul needs warmth
life needs sunshine.

This song is about equality, mostly gender equality but it‘s not taking itself too seriously. I think this will look good on stage. These are three very experienced singers/musicians plus one who took part in the „The voice“ in Germany last year.

Í síðasta skipti (For the last time).

I have never been much of a fan of Friðrik Dór Jónson, mostly because I haven‘t been a fan of his music. I have been more a fan of his brother, Jón Jónsson. BUT, Friðrik is cute, and I am sure he will be very charismatic on stage. The lyrics are really good, and I am sure he will be singing it in english if he wins. This is a heart-break song and the chorus sounds like:

For the last time,
take my hand and don‘t let go.
Show me again what love is.
And oh o-o-o
Tell me
that you don‘t feel nothing, no sparks
that the warm emotions how cooled down
then I will know my way out.

He is going to melt some hearts in the audience if he does it well on stage and even if I liked the song from Hinemoa more in the beginning, this song has grown on me. Of course, when it comes to Eurovision, the first impressions matter the most, but I think that Friðrik‘s Dór stage performance will be very memorable.

Augnablik (For one moment).

Stefanía has a fantastic voice and Sveinn Rúnar Sigurðsson knows how to compose wonderful songs. This is a really strong ballad and the only ballad that appeals to me. The others are just too sweet for my liking. This one is about something that could have been. A love in one moment of time. What would have happen if things had gone differently. The chorus is:

Live is easy but love is demanding.
Wouldn‘t it be good,
if our eyes had met and sparkled,
a little flame that ignites again
for a little while.
On our destined meeting.
Love, one moment in time.
You, oh you
Love one moment in time.

I am almost sure that this song will be really strong in live performance. Stefanía has a really strong voice and I‘m sure she will be spot on.

Milljón augnablik (myriad moments).

Haukur Heiðar is one of my favorite Icelandic singers. I absolutely love Dikta‘s album „Get it together“ and they are working on their next album now, soon to come out. Karl Olgeir, the writer of the song is a great pianist, but I am almost certain that Haukur will be sitting by the grand piano in this song, and maybe some of his band members will be with him on stage. I just love his voice, it‘s tender, but Dikta‘s lyrics are really dark and deep and people often don‘t realize it, you really should check them out. The chorus is:

I wish,
to be here,
with you all the time.
Where ever I go,
I will look for you,
and will find you in the end.

This song is not about the lyrics, but about a great composition and voice. I know Haukur will deliver. You can see Haukur by the piano in the song „From now on“

Fjaðrir (Feathers).

I absolutely adore this song. I hope they will do well live. I haven‘t been following the bands „Rökkurró“ or „For minor reflection“ which Sunday consists of, but I have heard of them for sure and they are very talented musicians. The singer comes from Rökkurró (Hildur Kristín Stefánsdóttir) and the guitarist comes from „For minor reflection“ (Guðfinnur Sveinsson). This is the only song that I think would do well in Icelandic. This song is not so much about the lyrics (more lyrical, than having any one meaning, but much more about mystic, electronica and indie. I love it. Here is a video of „Rökkurró‘s“ performance on Iceland Airwaves last year.

Brotið gler (Broken glass)

I always liked Jeff Who? And Bjarni Lárus Hall was the singer of the group. They haven‘t puplished a song for a long while now, but according to Bjarni, this is a song that was written while they were still active and they thought it was too good to be hidden in someone‘s drawer. I agree with them. This is a typical Jeff Who song and I think the chorus is addictive. The Icelandic lyrics are just so and so but I am sure they are a quick translation from english lyrics. Bjarni said that his band will be with him on stage. This is their most popular song:
