Well blow me down! Húzd le!

I've just found out the winner of Hungary's 'A Dal 2018', searched for it and, having found it on YouTube, watched it once through. Is that the best Hungary could come up with this year? Admittedly, I don't like that style of singing, but come on, couldn't Hungary have picked something nicer for ESC 2018?

What were the other A Dal 2018 finalists like? Unfortunately, as I've had my mind on other stuff lately, I haven't watched the preview videos of however many finalists there were participating in tonight's A Dal 2018 either today or the last few days. Nor did I bother trying to see if an international live online webcast of "A Dal 2018" was available to watch from outside Hungary this evening.

As many ESC fans know already, Hungary is in the second semi-final. Whether or not I'll want AWS - "Viszlát nyár" in the ESC 2018 Grand Final depends on the other 17 countries' entries in the second semi-final. I'll be in a better position to decide when all 18 second semi-final songs are confirmed. Anyway, if there are 10 other songs that I like much better than "Viszlát nyár", I certainly won't want Hungary in this year's ESC Grand Final. Sadly I won't be able to vote in the second semi-final as, this year, the UK is voting in the first semi-final.

Well I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed. 'Meggyfa' would have been an instant top 3 for me and would have continued Hungary's streak of being my single favourite Eurovision country. I will contribute to listen to Horvath's wonderful song and dream of what could of been.

As for AWS, I think I've been a bit too harsh on the song. I don't like screaming vocals at all and the live performance puts me off the song. But I've found myself enjoying the studio version a lot more. It's not a bad song and may grow on me as time goes on. I'm still very concerned about it ruining Hungary's qualification streak because I can see the juries absolutely destroying it. I hope they don't, I actually would like to see this in the final. I'll give it 6 points for now.

I hope Horvath comes back next year and the jury don't ruin his chances again.

Poor Yesyes :( I will give my verdict after watching the final performances which I missed.

I give :10: for now. It's a brilliant entry, it reminds me Kabat (Czech 2007 entry) quite a lot, but better version of it, of course. I am not fan of current staging, though. It could go either way in Lisbon: could be top 5 or non-qualifier (unlikely), it's definitely not middle-of-road or neutral and doesn't go by unnoticed, which is a good thing xclap

I love it! I can't stop listening to it! I mean, I don't love it musically but I'm so amazed that a country had the courage to send something different like this to ESC! It makes me feel what I felt with "Igranka". It's definitely my favourite of all the chosen songs until now. :)

Whoa, Hungary sends post-hardcore music to Eurovision? And it actually doesn't suck? I'm surprised.
I used to listen to this kind of music a lot when I was younger :D
Good luck Hungary :)

Ok so I only wrote "YAAAAAAAASSSSSSSS" before cause I honestly couldn't express how happy I wasxheart but yeah basically Hungary was becoming one of my favourite countries @ ESC, and to top it off last year you had the guts to send something like Origo which I absolutely loved, and now you bring this the following year.

Thank you for taking risks and for constantly snatching my wig x12s

I wanted Gergely Dánielfy – “Azt mondtad”, it was my fave…

But it was maybe too much like Salvador Sobral, so in the end I’m glad they won…

I'm not such a big fan of this genre..but this performance gives me life…BRAVO AWS, you go with all credits to Lisbon! I’m so glad we will have this genre there as well and in Hungarian language! YAY! xyaaay

12 in the poll! xyes

10 points

I'm shocked I like this so much! I don't consider myself an heavy metal fan but this song and especially the performance gives me chills...

I'm so proud of Hungary, slaying yet another year and slowly becoming my favorite ESC country in recent years xcheer good luck!

EDIT: I might consider change to 12 points very soon xheat

I used to listen this type of music when I was younger.
Appreciate the diversity, it's quite cool in native language. Needs a better staging anyway. 8 points for now, but pay attention to the Eurovision bubble among the fans, clubs, etc....

The saviour grace of yesterday's failed choices. Metal sung in native language is something i could never possibly expect...and to see this happening in my country is just mindblowing.
I now firmly believe it's possible to see a more artistically diversed Eurovision where we can embrace other genres instead of being so obsessed with popdivas. What a performance for ages. Live long and take my money, obrigado Hungary!
