I like her girl-next-door look & style.
When playing the first semifinal songs in order, and loud, this one stood out! For the first time I had to restart it as the message in the lyrics.
All she needs to do is keep the NF performance and with the right camerawork it's a dead-cert qualifier.

It does stand out in it's way. People are seriously underrating this, I'm pretty sure it will qualify.

This song's message is more sincere than Russia's but i doubt it will pass the semifinal.

Hated this song when it was first selected. The lyrics were cheesy, melody was flat, nothing much happened, I even found fault with the singer's upper lip. Not such a minor issue, if that's what you're thinking.

Now ESC 2015 playlist youtube video has been daily working as my life's soundtrack for some time and things towards the Hungarian song have been slowly turning. All the characteristics stated above are still there, of course they are and there they will no doubt remain, yet... somehow there is an earnestness about this which sets it apart from anything else. This song is so very serious and so very infinitely sad as if it knows that the words it says are lost to the world, that noone's gonna listen and wars are goiing to go on for ever regardless anyway. It is not even a song, it is more like a chanted murmured moan, hopeless and defeated.

Watched it today in EiC and was kind of mesmerized. In a way, it is quite extraordinary. I am thinking, should it go straight in into my top 10? Well.

It did take me about 200 listens(?!) to feel like this. Will Europe need only one? I wonder.

I liked it from the first listening. It's simple yet very charming. I think the idea of the performance in a dal is very good too.

I think this is the 3rd worst song of all, only better than Finland and San Marino.
I can barely listen to this till the end…
I don't like peace songs as a concept. I don't get what they're trying to accomplish.
Nobody thinks war is good… This is such a contrieved way to get people’s emotions…
For me it comes across as very insincere and exploiting.

I'm pretty sure it’s going to qualify though

That's pretty far form certain , you nasty, war lover boy!

Of course I see your point and, not a huge fan of "message" songs or songs "for causes" I agree with you. It's just that, sometimes, there are exceptions and somehow I found this song touching despite its theme, not because of it. We are all subject to prejudice, and songs against war or famine in Africa may become good examples of it too.
For instance, I had put the lyrics down as cheesy without (i admit) looking very closely, when in fact they are not. You can actually find no candles, or any kind of shining bright, spreading light, no brothers holding hands and let's be friends, no hope for a better future, no dawn, no sunset or any such blergh.

What you get is a very serious, very honest That you live in peace does not mean it's okay to ignore all the pain, or Give me one good reason to hurt a helpless soul, break a heart, kill a mind. I find it kinda good, actually. And it is true, we're living in peace for far too long, we have no idea what war means except on television. Still. there are plenty of wars nearby xshrug

Anyway, sum and gist of all is, I might be switching this with worthless love themed Portugal in my top 10 any time soon, so stay tuned! xcheer

I'm just going to post what I said about this video on another forum a week or so ago...

It's quite an achievment to say so much bullsh*t in less than 5 minutes
clap-slow.gif

First he sarcastically talks about pro-war songs(can't come up with good comedy content:CHECK), then he goes on to include Edwin Starr's 'War'(because... just because), then he's whining about how the video is set(obvioisly less is more is something he has no clue about), after that he cherry picks parts of Boogie's statements and bends them around (Anita Sarkeesian would have been proud), then he talks about Russia 2013, a song that couldn't be more different than "wars for nothing" when it comes to anti-war songs, since 'What if' is basically a second class Disney ballad that happens to be about peace(and it's as fake as Nicki Minaj's butt) and he ends the video with how Russia invaded another country a year after 'What if', which has SOOOOOO much to do with the song that is the subject of this video. I assume that he ran out reasons to bash this songs and could come up with anything better... Plus it's cringeworthy that he wasted so much time picking bits and pieces of the singer's statements and yet he didn't even bother looking up how to pronunce her name. If there would be a book called 'Reviewing for Dummies', then it would be the perfect birthday present for him.

I love this song. It’s simple. All wars for are nothing. To quote the song, “tell me one good reason to hurt”. That’s it, that’s what the song is about. And Boggie is a sweet girl with some friends and a guitar who want to explain to Europe "that you live in peace doesn’t mean you ignore other pain”. And the song is so sweet and soft that it brings people together to stop and listen. And that’s what Boggie is doing. She’s going around Europe to stop in squares in cities and setting up like a busker and getting people to join in singing around her, just like in the video in Budapest. Wonderful. One pity I find in the song is the staging. In A Dal, the background was a map of the world with statistics of war deaths popping up, however Israel took offence at some Gazan statistics being displayed (the actual NERVE) so that won’t be happening in Vienna. Oh well. A definite qualifier, but then it’ll drop to the bottom in the final, as these songs do.

I know that some people believe that Hungary can qualify for 5th year in a row.
But how many do believe that Hungary can make a top-10 results for 3rd year in a row?

I don't get why but this is the most underrated song this year :(
Am I a fool dreamer if I think that Hungary is going to qualify? I trust in jurors!
