I think it's very likely that we might've given Hungary our twelve points in the semi this year combined with the jury votes, a lot of people have even talked about voting for it. In our preview show a couple weeks ago they absolutely loved it as well.

So I was right! And 8 in total in the final, with first in jury votes, the highest points they got.

Very good performance, although the song itself is extremely boring. I almost fell asleep. And I believe many people felt that way too. I think it's a success that she performed in the final as well.

I expected this to do much better in the Final.
But there were too many ballads in the 2nd half...

I like the message of song. I really do. But the song doesn't have to be that boring.

Time for me to review the Hungarian song this year :D

Boggie - Wars for nothing
Status: no thanks :(

Song: I always look forward to what Hungary comes up with because I think they have great quality standards in Eurovision most of the time. This year is no exception even if it's not my cup of tea. Actually, "Wars For Nothing" reminds me of an Irish ballad, I don't know why. It's really slow-paced song, with a guitar playing and backing vocalists that accompany the lead singer, very simple but less is more, that's a fact. First, I have to say that the lyrics seem cheesy to me (like Beauty never lies), I do think it's really difficult to write a song about peace or tolerance without sounding cliché or cheesy, and this one unfortunately does not convince me at all. The structure of the song seems rather linear, there is nothing wrong about it but it bores me to death nonetheless. It seems to be a honest song though, I'm just not moved by it.

Voice: Boggie's voice fits the song, it's clear, low-key and nice. Nothing to say about her performances, she was good.

Staging: I liked the staging, very simple, yet they managed to set an intimate atmosphere on stage. It's very static but I guess it prevented people from being distracted by the lyrics and the message of the song.

Outcome: To be honest, I think they were Lucky enough to get to the final. Don't get me wrong, they deserved to be there considering their performance, however, no way it could have done better than it did in the final imo (it's pretty much like Cyprus). In my personal ranking, Hungary is placed very low this year, I'm sorry I would have loved to like it but I find it boring. Better luck next time Hungary, hope to see you next year.
