Unrelated, but I just heard Satellite playing in my gym (in Australia!). Obviously Lena was one of the best winners in recent years!

Probably one of the worst entries of the year xshrug

Bad take on Ed Sheeran with cringey lyrics, it's one of those completely inoffensive and safe entries without any personality which makes it offensive in it's desperate attempt at being safe and middle of the road. This leaves me cold and empty.

The most famous German Forum has :at: as Favourite.

Michael only charted #27. Hopefully the NDR reacts right in Time and changes the Song before the Deadline.

In the Radio he flops too. I said it but nobody wanted to believe me.

Eh don't worry, I'm pretty sure that we'll at least gather some jury points this year.
The goal is 24th place, right?

A Country like Germany should want to win every single year, but...

What a gloomy view of you all! It's not like Germany wanted to be No. 1 or anything. After the past years it would be all right to be not on the last place. And anyone who is talking about how shallow and mediocre this song is and that it reminds him/her of Ed Sheeran: there are so many more worse songs than this one this year. Countries who send in songs that were heard a thousand times before. Yes, Germany's song is nothing new either but at least it sounds decent.

Taste differs xshrug

It's not the worst of the worst, but this is not a step in the right direction, in fact it's even worse than those entries that flopped the previous years... while they were not good... they had more personality than this xshrug

It cant be worse than this. At least he can hit notes, he has a solid Voice, looks naturally and has a fitting Outfit.

So a song co-written by the artist about a moment of his life does have less personality than some random songs for random girls... xthink I have so much to learn

Can you elaborate what you mean with "they had more personality than this"? Because this is the first song after Elaiza's where the artist himself worked on it and the lyrics even have a personal connotation. Or do you speak about the musical arrangement? Even then I'd like a more detailed explanation, if you don't mind, 'cause quite frankly, I cannot see how pre-written songs like Black Smoke, Ghost and Perfect Life with no collaboration with the artist whatsoever can have "more personality" than YLMWA.

Don't get me wrong guys, I didn't like the previous entries either  Elaiza was the last "decent" German entry imo

With "personality" I didn't refer to who wrote (or didn't wrote) the entries, I strictly commented on the "sound" of the entries (production, melody etc.)... and again it's not as if these previous ones were particularly good or original either (more the opposite), so it's just small nuances really. This year's entry leaves me completely empty though, even a trainwreck entry with the worst singer in the world with lyrics written by a 5 year old leaves atleast some sort of impression on the listener (for better or worse), this however doesn't even manage to do that.

There are those type of songs that may not be particularly bad, but they are just so bland and inoffensive and frankly unmemorable that they become bad because you feel nothing out of them, and this entry just happens to be one of those xshrug

The last time I truly enjoyed a German entry was back in 2011, then I even had Germany in my personal top. 3 ranking. I think those two Lena years were some of the strongest German showings in Eurovision for some decades, but unfortunately they look more and more like some distant parenthesis because except for a couple of stand-out entries during the last decades (except for Lena, also 2006 and 1999 comes to mind), we'd have to go back to early 90's or even back to the 80's when Germany were more evenly "good" (atleast based on my taste).

I agree with you that YLMWA is rather bland. But in a Eurovision full of glitzy songs this one is quite a relief in between. Lacklustre setting, lacklustre outfit, lacklustre song. I‘m sure this will be refreshingly different and in contrast to most of the other songs.

I think that's what it will be. Björkman will use this as filler between two favorites, like Israel and Czechia.
