Just listened to his live version at the London Eurovision Party 2018. Wow, I like this song a lot (musically and lyrically), but I have other favorites this year. BUT his live singing is really the best from all other songs I heard so far. Respect! xheart His emotional and pure voice will capture hearts in May.

Eurovision is dead in Germany. Theres exactly 0 Hype.

Thanks to NDR who know nothing, and Stefan Raab's early retirement. Since Stefan Raab, Germany hasn't had a decent result in Eurovision, and before him neither, except for 2001.

But the other problem is, that music in Germany is quite dead at the moment. All you get are sentimental songs with shitty lyrics, like Vincent Weiss, Glasperlenspiel, Mark Forster, Andre Bourani etc. Whenever they come up on my favourite radio Bayern 3, I skip it.

Gone are the days of Xavier Naidoo, Sabrina Setlur, die Fantastischen Vier, Beginner, who made Rap a German brand and inspired young artists.

Now we have songs which are intended to sound clever but are just plain stupid.

Here some examples of current shitty pop made in Germany:

Needs fresh air to breathe, a trillion times in 3 barely endurable minutes...

No royals, no kings, no castle of Versailles, granny is not a queen, but we are free .... yay *pukes*

The epitome of what is just quark instead of poetry.

A snappy parody for the LOLz. Sadly, music got shittier anyways.

[vi.

Actually since many many years I don't listen to German Music at all - or hardly with some exceptions. Most of them are too flat, boring and have no unique style. Once in a while there are some pearls, but you have to look a lot to find these. German music scene is dead, but not just now, but since quite a while already. Even the ones you mentioned aren't my thing, just because I have another music genre I love (Rock that is). But even what German rock is concerned there is huge lack. Gone are the good days. Therefore I listen to music that has been written long while ago where music still had a beautiful flavor.

Speaking about pearls: one song that I do like at the moment is "Rooftop" from Nico Santos

But I really do not know what happened. Songs are so inoffensive and beige, like they are written for moms.
"Ich will mal ganz lieb meine Mutti grüßen" is like what every song conveys.

Michael Schulte blends in perfectly.

I think it is no coincidence that Germany is number 1 in political correctness and morality.

It feels like almost every German radio song is written by the same 5-10 main people in general. Oh, well, they actually are.
For example, Alexander Zuckowski (who also wrote "Rise like a phoenix" for Conchita) co-wrote songs of Helene Fischer, Santiano, Adel Tawil, Max Giesinger [...]

Adel Tawil, Max Giesinger, Tim Bendzko, Wincent Weiss and so on all just sound the same. Nobody would notice if they changed their songs or just lyrics before they release them

Actually "You let me walk alone" is a perfect example for these songs, the only difference is that it's in English...

But there are some songs that are or will be succesful BUT are not played on the mainstream radio stations, and if you take a look at Germany's Spotify charts you will notice that German rap, trap and hip hop are really popular genres right now:

("no roots" was also on the radio, but it's different at least)

That's why you go on festivals, where music is still fun and not written for commercial success ;)

Seriously though, in which country do you hear offensive music on radios, lol? As if that was an occurence exclusively in Germany.

It got pretty quiet in here :D He will turn 28 tomorrow!

I really hope and get the feeling that the rather simplistic stage could lift up our song. Maybe this could be an advantage, I'm also looking forward to what projections they are going to use :) I wonder if they will change some of the colors they used in our national final, since I did not really like the orange/blue color scheme.

He also used an instrumental version in a lower key in Madrid and his vocals were stronger. Will he use the national final version or the lower key version instead?

I also hope that the simplistic stage (compared to the bombastic other ones) will stand out. Also the fact that it is a very quiet song might be a plus. Also agree about the Colors. orange/blue staging either. Hope they will change it. :D
