If anyone’s interested in a more theoretical approach and a short analysis of Ryk’s and Michael’s songs:

Explains quite well why especially Ryk’s song has been so "difficult" to listen to.

Ok i hated this song when I first heard it, but lord, it has grown on me. It's really easy to listen to and is pretty enjoyable on the ears. If they can nail staging (not him standing still) I think this has the potential to be on the left side and maybe top ten?

I am over people calling every singer-songwritery type ballad an Ed Sheeran copy, but... It's so hard to not say that about this one  It's like an Ed and Sam Smith hybrid, but very much toned down, bleached, shrivelled, with any kind of character thrown out. They had a nice concept here, but I think they failed to execute it properly and the end result is just bland and to me plain boring. The melody could be better, so could the instrumental. It also lacks emotion, feelings that it technically should stir in me. But I do commend them for sending something different from the past years at last, I am pretty sure this will achieve something better for Germany, whether I personally like it or not.

Well, people seem to like it. I've never understood the hype about those kinds of songs... Frans, Nathan Trent... just to name a few of the past years. But then again, I don't understand most of the fans' favourites. I think audience will like this a lot, juries not so much, so he'll probably end up 10-15th.

Though the song itself might be Mainstream, I sometimes prefer a good Mainstream song to a bad extraordinary one. Personally, it struck a chord inside myself since my mom almost died three times last year. It was painful. I hope the song will be doing fine in May, but I am a bad at guessing Things. Two years ago I thought Jamie Lee would do fine with with "Ghost".

Re: GERMANY 2018

Surprised at how much we loved this song (and how good the Big 5's entries are this year).

I was actually hoping a Little for Ryk in "Unser Lied für Lissabon". The song was just beautiful, but didn't like the Performance with the woman on the piano. Didn't feel right with the song. But Michael Schulte performed wonderfully. So no regrets from my side!:)

This is a big improvement over last year's horrific crap but it is too cheesy for my taste. I give it 7 points.

6 points for Germany this year, the song is nice, but I can't see it doing much.

Michael only charted #27. Hopefully the NDR reacts right in Time and changes the Song before the Deadline.

  that's a good one! Never ever will they do that. Yes, the position is disappointing, especially because the song was definitely more successful than "Perfect Life" last year - and still, it's only one position better that that song. Maybe it will rise in the weeks coming but any way: The NDR won't change the song. Why should they? The reactions have been really positive so far... Chart position is not telling you anything towards the finish in Eurovision. Cascadia and Elaiza were successful in the German charts but we all know their placing in Eurovision.
