It's funny how both UK and Germany send entries banging on about family members. It's a strong contender but I don't think it's original. Adele is embedded in there.

This one slightly reminds me of "Life is Strange" soundtrack. xthink

Which track? I finished Life Is Strange about half a year back and quite enjoyed it, but I don't remember anything on the soundtrack as being quite like this (and I'd like to go back and have a listen if it does).

I'm once again in the minority. This song isn't doing anything for me.

The effect it has on me (or doesn't ) reminds me of "The Importance of John Williams" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kWcg3cITkTI).
And in case someone doubts it, I do have functioning emotions, he just utterly fails to engage them. Two points where he completely lost me were "you let me walk alone", like his father died on purpose, and the "two hearts" bit where he, in my opinion, went a little too far with painting a picture of a happy family, and it smacks of emotional manipulation.
I get that it's a personal song for him, and I should definitely connect with this song, as I lost my father as well, but I don't.

The song itself, melody and instrument-wise, sounds like an Ed Sheeran B-side. I don't care for Ed Sheeran, so as a composition, it doesn't work for me either.

However, I wish Michael well and hope Germany will get the result they want. Plenty of people seem to connect with the song. I would also say that the jury will absolutely love it, but 'm not sure what the jury rates anymore.

Oops sorry, my mistake. I was actually dealing with "Before the Storm", which is LIS's prequel.

Considering the juries have been more biased than the audience the last years... I think it's the other way round. People will vote for this a lot, but the juries don't. Juries just vote for the most catchy, simple ESC pop songs or their neighbour countries.

Yes, that's the general feeling I have as well, and it's depressing. Wasn't the jury introduced originally to cut down on bloc voting? Or was it to make sure the artistry of the performers was rewarded? Either way, there's not enough eye-roll emojis in the world.
OTOH it's wonderful that the audience shows so much love to deserving songs, and hopefully that's where Michael also will get his support this year.

I actually agree with some of this. I don't if I would use the term biased, but they don't always go for these kinda songs. I mean, the same happened with Roman Lob in 2012. It finished in sixth place with the televoters and the juries were actually less impressed with it. But I don't think they just go for catchy, simple ESC Pop songs. They were not too impressed with Romania, Moldova and other songs that would probably fall into that category, although they saw some appeal and the Swedish entry for some odd reason.

I guess they were really disappointed that they failed to come last three years in a row, and only came SECOND last, so they're determined to come last again this year

I think you'll be the one disappointed in this case. This isn't coming anywhere near last.

It seems more and more likely that he might get a Top10 Finish. I never expected such positive Ressonance for him. Its not among my personal Favs, but I think Michael himself deserves a good result.

Right now he is number 1 on iTunes Germany for 3 days in a row and also stable in the Top 100 in Austria and Switzerland since his win on thursday :)

It's way too soon to say how this is gonna end up in May - the overall competition so far is extremely weak though. We might not end up bottom 6 ... which would already be a huge success.

Huh? I've checked the German Itunes charts several times over the last few days and Rita Ora/Liam Payne have always been ranked #1 whenever I looked. Michael Schulte is currently ranked #65, which is an improvement for him. The other times I've looked, he wasn't even listed inside the top 100.

You have to refresh your store or website. Michael has been number 1 since Thursday until Monday morning. Today he was on the number 2 spot all day and it won't let up. We are basically looking to the most successful national final winner in Germany since Elaiza in 2014. Plus, many people already heard his song on the radio several times. This could really serve as a hit on the charts and the radio. Hopefully they are planing to do some promotion around it and lift it even more. Everything seems really promising up until now.

Thats what I think too. Levina came 12th in Armenia, 14th in Georgia, 16th in Former yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, 18th in Slovenia, 21st in Albania, where she went on Promotour and Bottom5 in nearly all other Countries in the Televoting.

I hope his first chart appearance will be Top 10 in Germany and I think that's realistic. Maybe he will even chart in Austria in his first week, as he is on #34 on iTunes Austria at the moment. Would be pretty cool.

I even heard Levina-Perfect Life in a store when I was in South Korea and I was like...
