I thought Ivy was the obvious-winner and I think she had the best potential for Germany this year.

She was my very clear personal favourite, but I think actually I would have been a bit concerned about her chances if she went. Certainly had a strong chance to avoid the crash and burn of Germany's last few entries, but doing much better than that might have been a hard ask.

And this one, you can see it high on the ESC scoreboard?

Well people have been saying "Roman Lob", so I won't pretend like it can't happen. It's one of those songs that I dislike so much that it's hard even to think rationally when trying to pinpoint accurately it's chances. It can certainly do better than the past three years though, that much is very clear. In fact, I think all choices tonight besides Natia Todua carried the chance for Germany to improve on the past few years points wise.

That seems quite a realistic placement prediction, at least at the moment.

Something like this song i've linked below would have done well, and I could have tolerated it. Not my thing still but it has nice moments and feels a lot less a product. There's something in that ESC song that makes it unlistenable for me. I want to challenge myself to see from now to May if i'll be able to soften with my opinion on it if just a smidgen, but it's going to be hard. Edit: That song I linked is legit lovely actually and date wise ESC eligible. Do a Belarus please Germany. I feel bad dissing your entry so hard as Michael seems nice.

A very well deserved 10 points from me.
I didn't really consider the song that much at first but I really appreciate the feeling that comes across in the live performance and I'm really hoping Germany will do well with this.

I will not like it more than "2 in the poll", I'm 99% sure..

I'm afraid Elina in Estonia will won, Sara Aalto I don't like at all , as time goes by I fear Bulgaria 2018 won't appeal to me either..

Croatian internal choice, Cypriot internal choice are extremely bad...

MF is weak as hell...

Rebecca and Rybak who are faves to win in Norway are very bad to me..

Aisel from Azerbaijan will sing song by Kontopulous, and that is so non promising..

I have a feeling MADARA won't win in Latvia.. :( xcry xcry1

IRIAO from Georgia, Yulia Samoylova from Russia, Lithuanian NF and Macedonian band excite me the most!

Being concerned about Ivy's chances if she went is a bit luxury, considering what Germany has now instead. Ivy was not my favourite, but her song could be appreciated at Eurovision as far as I can see. "You Let Me Walk Alone" has no big chances to stand out besides other songs that we know of so far. Hard to tell the difference besides Spanish entry at the first listening (as many viewers who will vote and the juries will likely be doing). Oktoberfest folks were actually cool and entertaining, and my favourite, (in Eurovision/live performance contest standards) but I knew they wouldn't win anyway.

I think Germany made the right choice this year. Honestly, I'd have this as a dark horse to win the whole contest at the moment. At the very least, it's going to be very popular with the juries and if he gets a second half draw, I can see televoters also being drawn to it. Top 10 is very likey

I think most of the big 5 have pulled it out of the bag this year. France and Italy have both sent fantastic and emotional songs, Germany have chosen a very well produced and respectable ballad and even though Spain's entry is cheesy, it does have some appeal. This year it's the UK letting down the big 5 :(

26th, 25th, 20th... who cares. It‘s still a bad result. 26th isn‘t worse than being 16th. Especially when you know German televion (resp broadcaster) doesn‘t really try. For years German Eurovision preselection (NF) has been a platform for national performers only, that‘s why they don’t give a crap to the final result. I don’t see any other explanation why they‘ve been always choosing songs you‘d hear on German radio and NOT what the international Eurovision audience likes to see. I don’t care anymore. What happens if Germany is last again? Nothing. Withdrawal is not an option, why should we? It‘s not that it would change anything. Let our national performers have their 15 minutes and keep your eyes on the really good entries. You can‘t vote for your own country anyway.

It is a huge Difference.

If Levina, Annsophie and Jamie Lee came 16th, the atmosphere here in Germany would be much better and there wouldnt be Demands for a Dexit from Eurovision. When Elaiza came at least 18th, the World was somehow Ok.

THE GOOD:
-For the type of song that it is, the instrumentals do their job well.
-I like the story being told in the song, mainly because of its clever lyrics.
-The song has great vocals in parts.

THE BAD:

-More of a preference than a bad thing, but he didn't sell the song as much as I would've liked, at least in the video above.

THE VERDICT:
This is a nice entry from Germany. It's got a good (albeit sad) story which is matched with good vocals and instrumentals. With the right staging, this entry might surprise folks. He just needs to sell the song more, in my opinion. 8 points
