Well my one ounce of kindness tonight was not going that low. I'll be a good boy and refrain. Bless all my most hated Eurovision songs. I should make a top worst list.

At least Daniel Diges has curly hair too.

But please think of the children and set a limit!

250 is enough.

You Let Me Walk Alone

Positives:

Ginger is a lovely hair colour. There are particular shades of ginger I really like. I recall the time I was a soap watcher and the secret crush I had on Sean Slater from Eastenders. His kind of dark "am I or aren't I" red was exactly the shade that I liked and he had a beautiful face. The added bonus was that he was the bad boy brother of the iconic Stacey Slater.

I wish my hair was curly. People often tell me they wish their hair was as straight as mine but I hate it. Natural curls have been something i've always desired. It's no fun having extremely fine long paper straight hair. Bouncy waves can be gorgeous.

Negatives:

Germany, this song is offensive. I'm often critical but it takes a lot to repel me so gosh darn far back that i'm currently dangling out my window as i'm typing this. For me this is an accumulation of everything that's wrong with talent shows, contemporary pop balladry and why formulating anything that's supposed to be remotely emotional is a bad idea. This is the song that plays during the judges houses stage of X Factor. This is the winning performance as the glitter falls. This is the "indie" artist on a major label who's tunes are chugged out for people to listen to on Radio 1, and then declare to their friends that they're into alternative music. It exists and I can't do anything about it apart from tell you that I don't like it and allow those of you that do to enjoy it. There are people out there who can't get through trashy pop, metal, rap, dance music.. you name it. We've all got our personal kryptonite. This just happens to be mine, and boy it does it's job well.

I've been really fair this year with my points so far. Plenty of songs I dislike but i've been handing out 2s and 3s. I absolutely loathe "You Let Me Walk Alone" though. Anything more than a 0 would be wrong here from me. I doubt there will be a song I dislike more at Eurovision 2018. "You Let Me Walk Alone" can sit besides the What If's, the I Can't Go On's and the This Time's in my special Eurovision hall of never to be heard again by my ears. The end.

P.S. Thank you for Xavier's legs tonight. I enjoyed them thoroughly.

I honestly shouldn't bother. This is amazing. And as with any good shade, it's the faint praise that truly, truly makes it.

Germany has a population of 82 million and this was the song they came up with???

Don't get me wrong.. it's not horrible... just bland bland bland.

It's alright, not my favorite but a decent song. But I'm very sad about Ryk, damn... what a missed opportunity :( he would be one of my favorites of the year

I think Germany can aspire to reach a much better result than lately with this song, but I need Michael to deliver better this song on stage (not referring to his vocals, they seem fine to me)

5 points for now. Good luck Germany!

Ahhhh, I haven’t watched the NF..I have just checked winner’s performance..

I really don;t liek this entry :( I’, quite sad now, but hey ho…I will check other entrants performances and maybe if they weren’t that great I will not be that sad..

But I want to vote Germany again..

He is quite weak live IMO and I don’t like the color of the voice, i think he sings falsetto wrong as well especially at the ends of phrases…..composition is totally uninspiring..i didn’t fall completely for that emotion he presents, I somehow don;t believe him…maybe lyrics are not bad for that type of the song, but I dunno really…

Will be quite low on my list for 2018!

2 in the poll..

Well the praise was very honest though and from my heart. Michael has gorgeous hair. I love the colour and how big and curly it is. I'm actually jealous. He looked handsome on stage.

Hey, here's another compliment. It was staged well. I'm glad they avoided having him sat there pretending to play the piano, as might have been tempting.

Oh, totally forgot about this National Final. After I just listened to all the performances, I think the best song won. And I like it! Germany totally took me by surprise, cause I wasn't expecting an indie song from them. While there are plenty of songs of this type, I can't help myself from liking it from the first listening. It doesn't have to be edgy, with a weird tune and/or anticlimactic to be a good indie/alternative song.

So far this year has been nothing but surprises. Denmark, Greece and now Germany! Who would've thought these countries will be some of my favourites this year xbow

Hah! Figured you out! You're a majestic ballad lover! :D

I mean, Tú cancion, When We're Old, and now this... no matter how others find it boring, you will never! :D

Haven't followed the German NF too closely, but looking over the performances, I can't really complain about the winner. It's a fairly standard midtempo piano ballad, but it's executed well, and that at least puts it a good sight above Perfect Life for me (and probably Ghost too, especially if you're comparing live performances).

On a personal level, I probably would've preferred Voxxclub - who brought something with real character, a fun stage act, and native language - but Michael was a close second, and as far as Germany's goal of hitting the top 10 goes, Michael does seem like their safest option. I'm guessing it'll get the country its best result since Standing Still in 2012.

For now, I'll give it 6 points, though that could either grow with time or fall off if the song starts to irritate me. Both are possible.
