Since 'Can't Wait Until Tonight' and 'Frauen Regier'n die Welt' were actually 'Ballermann Hits'

have you got a link to listen to Ryk's song?

I don't, sadly. I mean, I listened to the song on Spotify New Zealand

Re: GERMANY 2018

Well I don't think it's an awful selection by any means, it could and has been much worse. Most of the songs are quite average and generic as it goes, but It is a more interesting NF than what we had. I think voXXclub is actually quite fun, although I don't really want to see it at esc, and Ryks song is insanely dull and boring. It sounds like it is trying to be all edgy and emotional when it isn't at all, almost disney-esque in the melody if we take away his wail like singing. It would be a dreadful choice tbh. I tried to make a rank but there is nothing here that I enjoy a lot to rank above the others, I suppose if I was forced to pick i'd go for Natia, but female solo pop singers has hardly been the recipe for success for Germany.

Re: GERMANY 2018

I listend to all of the songs, now I can make up my top for the studio versions - It'll be interesting to see how much that will change after the live performances

1. Michael Schulte 12/12: I LOVE THIS SONG! From the first listen, I was just struck by the amount of emotions that Michael delivers in this song. Beautiful lyrics and really emotional melody that stucks in your mind immediately. I really hope he can perform this in a very intimate and personal way on stage so that the whole of Germany (and then hopefully Europe) can feel his emotion. By far my favourite.
2. voXXclub 10/12: You know what: Screw it! I'm sick of these female pop singers who perform these middle of the road-pop tracks. voXXclub are at least different and their song is so catchy and positive - you just have to love it! I don't care if we'll end up at the bottom. This is authentic, fun and so full of energy that I just enjoy listening to them. Plus: The lyrics are really amazing, I really didn't expect that! Go guys, if Michael doesn't win, then I really hope that it's you who go to Lissabon.
3. Ivy Quainoo 7/12: I mean, I really like Ivy and I LOVE her debut album "IVY" but let's be honest: We all expected more from her. "House on Fire" is really interesting and the production is really outstanding but it doesn't go anywhere. I really hoped for that amazing moment, where everything comes together and you're just overwhelmed but it's just not happening. I really hope that she delivers live and the performance is amazing, otherwise this will be very disappointing.
4. Natia Todua 5/12: Personally I really like the song but to be honest... it's just what we've sent to Eurovision the past three years. A cute girl with an amazing voice but an average pop-radio-song. That's exactly what it is. I really dig it though and I think that this can be lifted by the live performance. But honestly, I'd rather go with voXXclub and risk something than sending Natia, even though I'll probably listen to her song more often than I'll listen to voXXclub's "I mog Di so".
5. RYK 5/12: I like the song but for me it's too melancholic. This will probably rise when I see the live performance but right now I don't see this placing in the Top10 of the Eurovision Song Contest. Let's see what he'll make of the performance on Thursday.
6. Xavier Darcy 5/12: I really respect his talent and I think it's amazing that he does everything on his own - but I'm just not a fan of this kind of music. He will probably slay live but I will never be a fan. Sorry!

I think with Michael we will probably be the most successfull since Roman Lob in 2012. The lyrics are great, the melody is catchy and it's just full of emotions. voXXclub would be a risk but at least we would have fun. Ivy could do well if her performance is outstanding - I have no idea how she could achieve such a performance but I'm not a professional, so... :D Natia would end up the same way that Ann-Sophie, Jamie-Lee and Levina ended - so basically: NO. Ryk would also be a risk but with an amazing live performance, he could surprise. Xavier Darcy is not my cup of tea, so I guess I have no high hopes at all... if he went to Eurovision, he'd probably stick out and place somewhere in the middle of the scoreboard.

I'm really looking forward to Thursday to see all the performances - hopefully they thought of some really great stagings.

I could write more if I put my mind to it. I'm laying in wait for a certain song winning the Latvian NF so keep them eyes peeled for future shade.

Re: GERMANY 2018

I´m quite satisfied with the songs of our NF. From the first listenings, "You let me walk alone" sounds really good :-) I also like Voxxclub´s one, maybe the most polarizing act in Germany´s NF this year.

Re: GERMANY 2018

France was first in my Top 12 , first since the beginning of the national finals in January but probably Germany will take this first place if they send Mickael Schulte. I have no words, pure masterpiece ! I hope for Germany he goes to Lisbon :)
But tbh, i am afraid about german televoters. I hope they will not do the bad decision to choose Ivy or Voxxclub songs which are really average songs. Ivy song "House on Fire" is a bit too much formated song and Voxxclub the joke of ESC season if they goes to Lisbon
I hope Mickael Schulte will not have the same fate Asanda had in the UK (She was the big favourite and she failed to win).

If some german people are here: I would like to ask you something. Do you think Mickael Schulte will be the big favourite ? (he is popular in Germany ?) or do you think VoxxClub, Ivy or Ryk has a chance ? (thanks to their popularity). Try to answer without take in consideration your own opinion but with the general opinion and the experience you have from previous german NF's.
