Re: GERMANY 2018
I listend to all of the songs, now I can make up my top for the studio versions - It'll be interesting to see how much that will change after the live performances
1. Michael Schulte 12/12: I LOVE THIS SONG! From the first listen, I was just struck by the amount of emotions that Michael delivers in this song. Beautiful lyrics and really emotional melody that stucks in your mind immediately. I really hope he can perform this in a very intimate and personal way on stage so that the whole of Germany (and then hopefully Europe) can feel his emotion. By far my favourite.
2. voXXclub 10/12: You know what: Screw it! I'm sick of these female pop singers who perform these middle of the road-pop tracks. voXXclub are at least different and their song is so catchy and positive - you just have to love it! I don't care if we'll end up at the bottom. This is authentic, fun and so full of energy that I just enjoy listening to them. Plus: The lyrics are really amazing, I really didn't expect that! Go guys, if Michael doesn't win, then I really hope that it's you who go to Lissabon.
3. Ivy Quainoo 7/12: I mean, I really like Ivy and I LOVE her debut album "IVY" but let's be honest: We all expected more from her. "House on Fire" is really interesting and the production is really outstanding but it doesn't go anywhere. I really hoped for that amazing moment, where everything comes together and you're just overwhelmed but it's just not happening. I really hope that she delivers live and the performance is amazing, otherwise this will be very disappointing.
4. Natia Todua 5/12: Personally I really like the song but to be honest... it's just what we've sent to Eurovision the past three years. A cute girl with an amazing voice but an average pop-radio-song. That's exactly what it is. I really dig it though and I think that this can be lifted by the live performance. But honestly, I'd rather go with voXXclub and risk something than sending Natia, even though I'll probably listen to her song more often than I'll listen to voXXclub's "I mog Di so".
5. RYK 5/12: I like the song but for me it's too melancholic. This will probably rise when I see the live performance but right now I don't see this placing in the Top10 of the Eurovision Song Contest. Let's see what he'll make of the performance on Thursday.
6. Xavier Darcy 5/12: I really respect his talent and I think it's amazing that he does everything on his own - but I'm just not a fan of this kind of music. He will probably slay live but I will never be a fan. Sorry!
I think with Michael we will probably be the most successfull since Roman Lob in 2012. The lyrics are great, the melody is catchy and it's just full of emotions. voXXclub would be a risk but at least we would have fun. Ivy could do well if her performance is outstanding - I have no idea how she could achieve such a performance but I'm not a professional, so...
Natia would end up the same way that Ann-Sophie, Jamie-Lee and Levina ended - so basically: NO. Ryk would also be a risk but with an amazing live performance, he could surprise. Xavier Darcy is not my cup of tea, so I guess I have no high hopes at all... if he went to Eurovision, he'd probably stick out and place somewhere in the middle of the scoreboard.
I'm really looking forward to Thursday to see all the performances - hopefully they thought of some really great stagings.
