Germany GERMANY 2015 - Ann Sophie – Black Smoke

I'm glad Andreas gave his ticket to Ann Sophie because "Black Smoke" is my fave among German songs, followed closely by Laing "Wechselt die Beleuchtung". We can only wonder what could have been if Andreas quit earlier, but now after the fact there is nothing that can be done... I feel for all the participants and voters. What he did was very inconsiderate and irresponsible.

Anyway, 12 points to Black Smoke, with "Here for you" these are my favourites now (not counting my country).

7 points - I think this will do well at Eurovision! It's a decent song and will appeal to people I think.

This is so bare and essential and perfect.
She could use it in Vienna: 3 chorists on one side, two musicians on the other side, and her singing under a single spotlight.
She just has to choose the dress wisely. Either the red jumpsuit she performed "Jump the gun" with, or a simple evening dress would do great.

The only part I don't like is when Ann Sophie starts to shout in the refrain, although the handles it quite well in the acustic version above.
Either she should lower her voice a bit or pratice to sing it more clearly.

This has grown immensely on me over the last week! Not sure whether it's a big grower or just a phase, but when I get around to doing up my top 40 I think this will feature somewhere around fifth. Revising it to a 10 or a 12!

But now that we know all the songs I think also Germany could have won instantly with Fahrenhaidt and Frozen Silence. Too bad the live perfomance and staging killed it.

That stripped back live version of "Black Smoke" actually had me laughing. No one can say Ann Sophie isn't trying but it's just so ridiculously over the top, and she has no natural soul whatsoever. What we get is three minutes of a beautiful woman, absolutely off her nut, shouting some words at breakneck speeds, in the best Paloma Faith voice she can do. It takes a lot to make these ears of mine truly ring but Ann Sophie manages the feat. As soon as that chorus hits, i'm running for cover. I keep coming back to this song, trying to see if I can like it, but I just can't cope with it. I do kind of like her still though, strangely enough It's just the song is horrendous for her. If only her other song had made the superfinal.

She's a bit more ambition than ability. But we tried it the other way round with Kümmert, and it didn't turn out so well, so ...

It takes time to make a good video. Estonian broadcaster took almost a month but in the end it was worth the wait.

Is this performance from the election, or what to call it, or is it the winning performance after the odd winner swap ?, Why im asking is becouse it feels sharp and shaky and generally she feels really really unsure on stage, if this is after the win, that would be fully understandable, if not, ouch :S The song for me isnt to bad, but well so far, the perfomance leaves much much to wish for.

There is an official video made...we saw a clip of it before her performance in the NF. It seems to be just her singing while walking down a street but better than nothing
Not sure why they are so slow to release it though.
