Okay, when this guy won i was mad as duck, but when he started speaking i got my jaw on the floor, somehow i understood every word he said and started jumping like crazy, shouting "HOOORAAAAY!!!" even before he was done with the speech :D Thanks, man! You made my night.
I adore Ann Sophie and her song so i'm proud to give Germany 12 points this year instead of 5-6 i might have given if Andreas didn't refuse to go.

It wasn't my first choice, but I like it. "Wechselt die Beleuchtung" was my favorite, but I didn't expect it to win, since this sort of music doesn't appeal to Eurovision fans.
I think Ann's performance can improve in some parts, as well as her voice, but I don't see major problems and she definitely has what it takes. I like her style and her vocal timbre is nice as well. All in all, I rated it 7.

I agree about Ann Sophie's performance. She has plenty of time to work on that fortunately but something has to happen. Her timing was off and the whole thing looked a bit messy to me. But as said, that's something that can be easily fixed.

I remember how messy Sebalter's NF performance was and then in Copenhagen it was well choreographed and basically flawless.

I'm torn on that. I said before that I basically boycotted the German NF this year as I strongly disagree with the concept and I basically predicted the outcome. Hopefully they'll rethink their approach and come up with a different system next year.

Regarding the outcome, I personally prefer Ann Sophie's song so from that aspect, I'm happy with it. That being said, that's a selfish way to look at it and I am just as annoyed with Andreas. I understand that it could possibly be a "I want to but I can't" kinda situation and he truly didn't expect to feel the way he did. However, he could have easily just waited a day or two to think this through rather than making a 'on the spot' call. Now he disenfranchised a lot of his fans and supporters who actually spent money on his victory. The thing to me is, if he only cares about the music and not the attention , why did he take part in a televised popularity contest (The Voice) and then enteredanother contest where he would represent an entire country? It just doesn't add up for me. So yes, he should have thought this through more and I really don't have that much sympathy for him at this point and I do not respect his decision. He did all of this own his own will, he was not forced to take part by his record company.

Ann Sophie should receive 0% of the blame. Some folks they that she should have declined the offer due to the circumstances. Are you nuts? If I were in his shoes, I'd be like "Okay, bye Andreas. Don't let the door hit you on your way out". She did her best, she received the votes and made it to the Super Final. Again, I hate the German NF concept but I commented on that several times.
Heck, if I ended up last in the NF and they'll ask me to represent Germany I'd still take it.

So in a nutshell, the majority of the blame goes to Andreas. Even the broadcaster could not see that coming. He was sick but that would have not affected his ability to perform two months down the road. The broadcaster is to blame for a flawed NF system and jumping the gun handing it to Ann Sophie but then I don't see another solution for the problem. Yes, if Andreas wasn't there then somebody else could have beaten her in the Super Final but those are just hypothetical scenarios and we'll never know.

That whole talk "Well, you shouldn't force the artist".....YES, YOU SHOULD. You signed up for it and you need to finish what you started. Quitters are a pet peeve of mine. They need to introduce a rule similar to Eurovision, where if an artist decides to withdraw they'll have to pay a hefty fine.

Imagine me as a life guard trying to save a person that is about to drown in the ocean. Halfway on my way I turn around and say "You know what? I quit". You just don't do that. Yes, my example may be a bit more dramatic but you get my point.

Anyways, I'm done rambling :)

The casting format worked like a charm for us, but I can't see us going back to that. The egos of the NDR executives are too big for that, IMO. Maybe it would be worth a try to have NDR select an artist to represent us internally and then let the public choose the song he/she is going to sing. There are a couple of advantages to a format like that. For one, it does away with audience sympathy votes. Songs will finally be judged on their own merits. And 2) this is just about the only way I could see a big name artist like Mark Forster, Revolverheld, Silbermond, etc. represent us. They wouldn't have to worry about losing out to a total nobody and it's an excellent opportunity to plug a new album on live television.

So it seems.

Andreas took it all and he .... not the voters .... decided who won, without giving the other contestants a chance to be in the superfinal and thereby letting the voters decide

What I, in reply to RainyWoods mean is: He took it all = he won, decided by the voters ........ He decided who won, by declining his victory........ without giving the other contestants a chance to be in the super final = as RainyWodds wrote: by going though to the final he took the "slot" from someone else who could have been in the final if he didn't participate....... thereby letting the voters decide = My point the voters in the superficial didn't decide, Andreas did.

I'd prefer an internal choice but then it depends on the jury who is responsible... if we have some real music experts there and people who have an idea what kind of songs work well in Eurovision then I'm optimistic.

NDR totally messed it up with Miss Kiss Kiss Bang some years ago... maybe they remembered that optical aspects play a big role in ESC so they chose a latino guy and Dita von Teese but they blinded out that the song was shit

Miss Kiss Kiss Bang was great. :( Did not deserve to flop that hard, especially with the televoters.

Internal choice for 2016 would only be acceptable if we get Helene Fischer. Otherwise I don't want to loose our NFs, even though NDR made so many mistakes with song choices and promotion and the concept is maybe not the best, both 2014 and 2015 were fun to watch.

The song choices by NDR were good. The voting system has already proven last year that it's crappy, I don't know why they kept it. And maybe they could improve the visuals, but of course its a matter of money.

Well, I didn't say that there would be no NF. There would be, but it would be with one artist (e.g. Mark Forster). He/she sings 5-8 different songs and the viewers choose the one they like the most.

I don't understand a single word but I guess they're talking about the Greece/EU joke... well, we won't see points from Greece to Germany this year I suppose.

Ann Sophie just posted on facebook:
"[...] first I'd like to thank you for this weird but unforgettable night. This was the best concert I ever played - The audience was amazing and I never had that much fun on stage. I'm really happy that you decided to vote for "Black smoke" 'cause it's simply my favorite song. I'm glad that you seem to like it as much as I do and it makes me incredibly happy that I'm going to sing it in Vienna.
I know that I have to add something regarding Andreas Kümmert. To all of his fans: I do understand that you guys are disappointed, that's your right. I'm so sorry that he will not participate for you now but please remember that it was his very own decision and not mine. That's what he wanted - his heart said 'no' and we have to respect that. He will surely stay loyal to his music and his fans. I also have to say 'thank you' to him. This is a great opportunity and I'm totally up to do this. [...] I want to thank all those wonderful people who supported me. Let's have a big party together on our way! This is a once in a lifetime thing and we should enjoy every minute of it[...]".
xlove she's a great girl
