2012 and traditional music?
I meant, that noone understand them. So some guys in Bavaria do, and the Austrians theirselfs, but others? I don't think so :D

2004, 2005 or 2012 than with the ones that you mentioned.
Yeah, but these entries are completely crazy and so it's very funny to see them. The only thing such a song could get a high position is a very cool performance, like :at: 2003, whether i don't believe that LaBrassBanda would have such an EPIC entry.

This is the kind of a song that will get 12 points from Finland.

Overall I think it's a good choice. Cascada stayed true to their eurodance style and this will activate their fans to vote for them in Eurovision. And I think it could do quite well with the juries too. Maybe not the winner of ESC2013, but easily another top ten placement for Germany.

I agree that the voting system was kinda dumb. Drop the radio vote and continue with 50/50...it just makes more sense. And my suggestion: Have more than just 5 jurors. Have five groups of five jurors and combine their votes to one full set of votes.

Except for that, are you happy with the first German NF in years?

I thought it was a pretty good production I must say and unlike previous German NF's the songs quality was rather good, I think Germany is onto something good here.

It's funny that these people truly believe LaBrassaBand would do better in Malmo. Their music isn't original, either. It's something I can hear at any Octoberfest gathering, it just wasn't really something to be put on the ESC stage. The vast majority of Europeans would have been incredibly confused and turned off by that.

You can't deny that they would be more original than Cascada though, afterall the Eurodance sound has been done plenty of times and is more "universal" than the "Oktoberfest" style of LaBrassBanda.

Also, Guildo Horn and Stefan Raab ended up in the top. 10 with televoting alone with some of the crappiest entries I've ever heard in ESC, far far FAR worse than LaBrassBanda.

Not saying LaBrassBanda would be a success, I highly doubt that, and yeah Cascada will probably fair better than they would have done... but still though.

(Supplement to yesterday - and about the Germans moaning again :D)

I personally appreciate LaBrassBanda as a Live-Band very much and therefore had high hopes for myself, but tbh, I was very disappointed after listening to their result :( - the song (especially the studio version) has not at all the drive I wished it had, and the live-performance yesterday wasn't helping either, imo.
(Blitzkids f.e. were far better :))

I'm not a fan of Cascada's music style at all, as I've said before, but I can live with this entry, despite of the fact, that it is not the most innovative and original song on earth or ESC. It's a Euro-Dance-Pop-Song, so...But it won, the singer did a good live-job and obviously a lot people found it convincing enough to vote for it.
This inevitable 'shitstorm' on German media (or better: Hysterical user comments ;)) is just utterly ridicolous and far more embarrassing than the actual contribution, I think.
This "Boo boo boo, I am german and soo ashamed for our entry and country, boo hoo hoo last place boo boo everything rigged anyway boohooboo I'm so ashamed and she's fat boohoo we won't even reach the semifinals what a ****"-Attitude -- well, we have that year after year. It is sometimes amusing, but most of the time just...tiring, imo.

Just one thing: Please, Natalie, change your clothes and please, somebody, change the whole staging.

Yes, I wasn't a big fan of the Idol style shows from from 2010 & 2012. Granted, Germany "lucked" out by actually having a blah singer with a winning song and a really good singer with a decent song but the concept itself sucked IMO.

I'm very pleased with the way things went down. I was afraid there'd be too much jury talk and what not but it was all well thought through and a great variety of songs and styles. Let's hope we'll get something similar next year regardless of our result in Malmo.

Define "original though" LaBrandBrassa's music isn't that original to me. I grew up in Germany and remember going to several Octoberfest events, bars, concerts etc and bands like them were all over the place. I don't wanna deny that a lot of them a talented musicians but it's not my style and I'm very confident in my prediction that Europe wouldn't have liked it either.
Regardinig Cascada, as I mentioned before, I'm not their biggest fan either and certainly wasn't my first choice so I'm certainly not defending them for personal reasons. And I agree, it's not the most original choice but original isn't always a good thing, either.

Yeah, the Idol concept was kinda meh (although song-wise you did pretty well with it and apparently result-wise aswell).

Yup, in that case I hope for a decent result because it was partly the bad results that brought the Idol system... but then again the songs weren't really that good either but broadcasters tend to blame bad results on other things like neighbor-voting or their selection method instead of being self-critical about the quality of their songs.

I meant original in terms of entering the ESC stage aswell as for the rest of Europe of course.

I totally agree on that original isn't always a good thing, and I guess I would have chosen Cascada over them aswell (although for some odd reason it could have been interesting to see them in ESC).

It was certainly better than the casting show format in recent years. Song selection in particular was very good, imo. There was good quality in great variety, and no clear winner at the outset. So live performance became an important factor, contributing to the entertainment value of the show. But there is always room for improvement. The voting procedure for example was a mess. I think the idea to repeat the radio voting results by every single radio station when it was in essence one and the same voting was a psychological mistake. It gave the LaBrassBanda fans a feeling of "overwhelming victory" when their fav seemingly received one douze points after the other, when it was actually only once. Now we have a stupid discussion in the media of LBB being "robbed" off a "certain" victory by the jury that in fact never existed. And of course the televote going on even after the radio and jury votes just contributes to that. I can understand the ARD tried to bring the radio stations on board and place them in a good light, but the way it was done was just foolish.

Plus I'm totally bias now cause I get to meet Natalie in Malmo and I find her charming and very likeable :)

She's actually cool (atleast she come across as such)... I like the fact that she was sorta drunk when she won last year

As for my comment yesterday that turned-off people, well it may have sounded worse than it was meant (my humor on the net can be kinda "queen-ish"...) I just think she should try to dress more flattering... it doesn't really do her figure justice how she dresses now so to speak... but in a sense I kinda like that she doesn't give a eff and I like my ladies a bit slutty on stage so I'm torn

I bet she's cool to party with, afterall as things are going I might be off to the official after party so I should definitely try to drink some with her

Let me know, I'll be there, too.

It depends on some other people though, I have no control over this myself.

I still think though we should try to have a ESCunited meeting of some sort, get something to eat or do some sort of social activity. I know the town so I'll gladly be a guide.
