On another Forum many Finnish people really think they they can win this year

 you are bad at reading people. no, they don't think it seriously for overall victory (maybe good placing with good performance) but it's fun to take advantage of the situation since we flop mostly anyway. Relax, you shouldn't feel threathned. ;)

Lots of People put Money on her. On another Forum many Finnish people really think they they can win this year
Also lets not forget that the british Fans usually overestimate their own Entry and out lots of Money on it, but this year they probably choose to overestimate Saara who is also british instead.

It could be :sm: 1st in the odds, who cares? We don't even know all the songs yet, let alone the performances/stagings

Really? where? and how many are they? I don't know a single Finn who think Saara could win... and I think I know quite many! at the best some might think she could do better than the previous years, but there is a lot of people who think it will be a big flop. In general Finns are pessimistic (realistic) people and too humble to even dare to think to win any international competition, especially Eurovision.

Re: FINLAND 2018 - Saara Aalto

"it's my life, I'm a fighter" kind of songs bores me. Saara WE GOT IT, you are lesbian! Can you get over it? I mean, every time she is in the media she has to point it out? I am absolutely grateful for all the LGBT artists who are out and fight for our rights, but she has enough talent to offer something else than her personal story all the time. If her goal is to become only a gay icon for Prides and Eurovision parties, well done! You are the next Krista Siegfrids then... but that's not enough to shine in the contest.
As for the song itself, I wasn't impresed at the first listening but I admit it become very catchy after playing it many times. I don't hate it, but I believe she deserves something better.

So apparently her next song gets a lesbian romance themed video

To change the subject a bit, whatever the song, is it officially confirmed that it will be in English?

That's an odd question :) considering Aalto's artistic profile (the commercial kind) and the fact she's been working with an international team of composers, her singing in another language would be surprising.

Krista and Mikko reacted to Domino... I don't think it needs a translation, a diva ballad is coming: fireworks, screams, blown hair, etc.

Re: FINLAND 2018 - Saara Aalto

I don't get why Saara Aalto is overhyped by people in the eurovision-bubble. Did I miss something?

UK X Factor I guess, where she entered last year and came 2nd. Add on perhaps that her previous NF attempts might have been fan favourites. I'm kind of confused by her betting odds though. She's a campy diva singer with a theatrical voice who now has some recognition in the UK. She doesn't strike me at all as the ticket needed to win Eurovision, but maybe we're missing something here?

I'm not sure either, but we will see when the song will be available. I think it's strange that Yle skipped UMK to make sure ''she'' will represent Finland. I though UMK was a decent national selection with alot of potential.

I usually enjoy UMK too, but actually I didn't find it too strange how they cancelled it to finally give Saara her chance. I recall reading that a very large chunk of Finnish people were tuning in to watch Saara on the UK X Factor and I guess at this moment in time she's quite the hero. It's probably better to give her this chance which she's certainly worked for, rather than to place her into an NF where she'd probably be the winner on the strength her current popularity alone, with no one else standing a chance.

It bugged me when Elhaida Dani won The Voice Italy and then came back to her country a hero, winning Festivali i kenges by landslide, when her prior attempt at it was a 0 and last place. Sometimes internal choices make more sense. Saara did place second on her two previous attempts to represent Finland at Eurovision, so I guess those in charge are just helping along the inevitable here.

It makes sense indeed. At least better than the Mello-approach to select two-three likely winners and fill the rest of the national selection with crap.
I still don't understand the betting though. It's like people spontaneously bet actual money on something that may fail if the live performence don't get through...

UMK organizers this year revealed there's wasn't simple any suitable song ( meaning weren't good or just bad) in preview selection. So what's the point
would have to beat their heads to the wall again?

I find it much better than Monsters :) Has a better concept and she can show off her voice way better in that one..
But I understand why many people have already said it's worse than Monsters.. it probably sounds a bit more cliche-Eurovisionish and might flop actually. Then again, Monsters is not super memorable and does not stand out either. I find both a bit.... bland?

I also find it much better than "Monsters"....

With this one Finland would take 5-7/10 on my list...due to composition I like and good vocals (I suppose it will be good live)

With "Monsters" which I cant stand Finland will get 2-4/10 from me...
