Re: FINLAND 2018 - Saara Aalto

"it's my life, I'm a fighter" kind of songs bores me. Saara WE GOT IT, you are lesbian! Can you get over it? I mean, every time she is in the media she has to point it out? I am absolutely grateful for all the LGBT artists who are out and fight for our rights, but she has enough talent to offer something else than her personal story all the time. If her goal is to become only a gay icon for Prides and Eurovision parties, well done! You are the next Krista Siegfrids then... but that's not enough to shine in the contest.
As for the song itself, I wasn't impresed at the first listening but I admit it become very catchy after playing it many times. I don't hate it, but I believe she deserves something better.

I am addicted to Monsters.

And it is slaying! #1 trending on Finnish youtube and #1 on Finnish itunes. It even reached #7 on Swedish itunes. Very good start.

Monsters: if selected this song would contend for my first place, and I'm certain could threaten the top five at the grand final... I can't wait to hear the next two songs!
Also: UK take notes.

I like the song but that video though...
Fortunately that doesn't count in ESC. But there's something corny and teen disko-dj-list on it in the same time and starting feeling it might also flop?

The song is really good! Not innovative on any level but very enjoyable, plus we already know Saara is always on point

Ok but seriously, Finland/ Saara I don't care about your other songs, just get this to Lisbon already! We all know what happened last time Finland sent monsters to Eurovision!

Re: FINLAND 2018 - Saara Aalto

I have waited a little on commenting Saaras first song...it is mostly cause I can't decide what I think. One part of me, feels that this is a banger, a really catchy popsong that suits Saara very well. It is also very suitible for Eurovision and also with what is happening in the world today. The other part tells me that it isn't enough. I want this to be ever stronger, cooler, more monsterous and mysterious....and it is maybe a little too generic to work on a ESC-stage.

So my final answer is that the song is good...but I have a feeling she might have better to come. :)

I love the melody and everything, sounds so modern and nostalgic at the same time, could actually be sth Cher would sing xheart
However, the lyrics are a bit off putting. They are just too dated, overused by so many singers.
Yes, it tells her own story and everything, but still it's a pity that this good song can be cringeworthy with high heeled male dancers and I ain't scared attitude.
She doesn't need the LGBTQI support to be successful.

Can someone please tell me why Finland does actually end up on the 1st place in the betting odds? Captivating... I do assume that 'Monsters' is an entry which is totally able to provide :fi: a pretty decent result at the ESC, but winning the whole thing?????????!!!

Lots of People put Money on her. On another Forum many Finnish people really think they they can win this year
Also lets not forget that the british Fans usually overestimate their own Entry and out lots of Money on it, but this year they probably choose to overestimate Saara who is also british instead.
