Please mention another hosting country that have involved such international stars to present the show in the last 15-20 years.
Don't think that you can impress Eurovision fans by stating that big names should be praised when most ESC fans have trashed Madonna's and Justin Timberlake's apperances.

Your attitude is also kind of gross. Fame doesn't equal talent or competence in hosting a show. Petra Mede was never some huge celebrity and she had great success as a host.

My general thoughts:
  • If this is the trend first half of SF2 is setting, we are going to get really interesting stage shows for SF2 if the second half continues the trend. And it's going to be even harder to predict who will advance.
  • Finland, Australia and Serbia basically kept what they had in the NF, so nothing too surprising there.
  • Israel did pretty decent and I really like what they did to hide the kinetic sun. I am pretty sure there are some elements we have yet to see from the performance (ie. the mirror box). I was hoping Michael will come in in a different outfit though.
  • Azerbaijan again showing what they do best. Really think the staging will elevate the song much more.
  • Georgia's performance looks like it's a psychedelic dream, so colourful. I think they use the lights very effectively.
  • Malta's staging looks decent, but expected the piano to be there. Did not expect a dance routine. But I feel it's a little JESC.
  • San Marino is really living its reputation of giving everything and more. Think the messy looks kinda chaotic but it feels the performance will be very dynamic as the performers are at every part of the stage.
  • Cyprus also did what Israel did and that's because they share the same staging director. Really love the staging concept. Looks very sensual and slick at the same time.

I only said that Rai has put big afford to organize this ESC. Amongst all the other things, Rai has decided to have as host, and not guest stars as you said, big international stars, confirming that nothing was done randomly. I know that it's always about Sweden and everything done by you is perfect, I mean it sincerely, but you haven't watched the show yet and you can't judge. Maybe you'll be pleasantly surprised and enjoy those hosts as we enjoyed Petra. Is it possible?
Oh yes, Cattelan is a well known host with a long curriculum. Mika has hosted some TV shows on RAI, they have been very successful.

Wake me up when we have valid information concerning that sun thingy.
They are really keeping it like this, aren`t they? Gotte put my hope to rest, I guess.

Edit: There used to be some sort of production insight blog in past years. (forgot the name of the dude) Is there something similar this year? Maybe one can find some answers there.
I'm thinking that if they end up turning the sun to the LED side it will be only after all the first rehearsals are done (so they can say that everyone had the same conditions the first time they tried the stage...well except the big 5 eventually but whatever)

So all countries that hired Marvin Dittmann brought their own props. Austria, Armenia, Cyprus and Israel. (Are there more?)

He's probably very busy next year.

So far, I think that the staging concepts of the entries competing in semi 2 seem to be more exciting - like @Bobjan FR said, I think that most performances won´t "suffer from the dead sun" unlike countries such as Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands and Moldova in semi 1 which seems to heavily rely on LED´s.

Apart from the cheesy and utterly annoying clapping part, even the Maltese performance looks genuinely interesting and mesmerising (based on the picture we got - I will not make any comments based on a single second posted on TikTok xD)

Well yes, RAI has hired Mika who once said that he hates Eurovision. How great. Petra is just one example, I remember Anke from 2011 became very popular within the ESC community due to her charm as a host.

What does Mika have to do with Italy anyway? Never got that choice tbh. Seems odd. He is French isn’t he?

After today's rehearsal, those who scream Cyrpus NQ will have to eat their own words because Andromache's staging is stunning and vocals are on point.

12 points from the UK and I'll vote for Cyprus in the 2nd semi final :cy:

OMG Andromache in her Aphrodite Lady Seashell Bikini era xheat

This one half of semi 2 completely ate up the entire semi 1 imo. I'm very glad that not many countries are getting hurt by the eclipse.

Also, one thing I noticed is that some delegs are using super big props in front of the sun (which is huge) to probably make their artists look less small in front of it. I find that very clever.

Huh interesting. Still doesn’t have anything to do with Italy apparently. Lol.

He was a judge on The Voice of Italy for three editions, took part in an Italian TV show, got his own TV show on Italian TV (very successful - got incredible ratings, award-winning show), he performed at Sanremo, X Factor Italy.

He moved to Italy in 2013 (near Florence) and has a (recording) studio there as well.

I think that he´s partly based in Italy as an entertainer/musician/artist and partly lives there.

He was a judge at the Italian version of X Factor and since then he appeared quite a lot on Italian TV and seems to be really popular down there.
He still is one of the judges of X Factor Italy.
He has also been the main host of a Rai entertainment TV show called A casa di Mika. For two seasons. And this show has had very good viewing figures.
For this reason he was chosen as one of the hosts.
