"If the city of Basel were to reject the financial contribution, the event would actually have to be massively reduced and, in particular, the planned side events would be cancelled. In addition to the grand finale on May 17th, the two semi-finals would of course also take place."

I highlighted the part for you once again. I think this is just a case of "lost in translation".
You’ve highlighted a quote from a separate source to the one I have linked. The one I have shared details the contents of the referendum - I’m not saying we’d only get the one show, all I said was the referendum being successful would mean we’d only get one show in Basel. The EBU would have to intervene from that point.

And it´s not really correct. The semis WOULD TAKE PLACE, only no other events like Eurovillage or Euroclub would happen. Simple as that.

Thank God! Let's hope that the final results will look like that as well.

I was really pessimistic about the referendum because - you know - humankind can suck big time but what a lovely surprise!
It's good to see people not wanting to destroy something most of Europeans enjoy - and that they won't take the opportunity away for Swiss artists, choirs and people to show their creativity, spirit and talent during ESC throughout the city.

According to ESC kompakt blogger Chris who is Swiss a huge majority of votes are postal ballots (over 90 %), so it won´t change all that much.

Don't want to be a Debbie Downer, but at this point I don't want to hype myself about the event happening this year. I think things can greatly change in the political scenario after Trump takes charge on the 20th January 2025. We may even have a scenario were national finals get to happen (until March) but then something happens and NATO members (and a lot of participant countries are NATO members) will have to reallocate their funds to other kind of expenses.

You want, otherwise you wouldn´t have written this.

Everything can happen. Maybe next week earth will collide with a neutron star that kills all life. It´s not healthy in my opinion if you always expect the worst but well, each to their own I guess. xshrug

I think anyone on the fence with this issue in Basel were probably persuaded by the fact that they’d have most likely lost the hosting privileges altogether if they voted against the funding plans which would have damaged businesses in the city (including hotels, airbnb, restaurants etc who would have already taken bookings or reservations).

Eurovision is a fun circus of pure, unapologetic campery and should NOT change for anyone. The Eurovision village is very much a part of the fan experience and brings in a lot of revenue for the host city - among other things on the ballot today.

Okay...

That was my way of phrasing how I was feeling. I tend to be realistic, not a negative person. Maybe I should have phrased it like "Realistically, at this point I don't want to hype myself about the event happening this year. " instead of "Don't want to be a Debbie Downer, but at this point I don't want to hype myself about the event happening this year. "? Jeez... I wasn't expecting such a strong reply (that actually didn't even say anything about the theme of Eurovision and only served the purpose of judging me). For my own sake, I'll just abstain from sharing my thoughts here.

The stage design, theme art and ticket information will be revealed on December 16 at 15 CET. Maybe we'll also know who the presenters are

Seriously, I need to see "Ligo" and "Zjerm" win in Latvia and Albania, respectively.. and together with Montenegro, I probably already got 30% of my final Top 10 already covered.

I love the stage design for 2025. Very modern and stylish. Again lots of countries will use it well to show off their entries and give us some iconic moments like last year.

I am not fond of Times New Roman, of all fonts, to be the main part of the visual designs, though. Even Comic Sans MS would be a better choice than the tacky TNR.
