It's a bit off topic, but worth noting.

Junior Eurovision 2024 will have just 2 accreditated journalists for each country and ZERO international fan medias (only spanish fan medias admitted). I can't believe Caja Magica/Madrid/RTVE couldn't find a good location for a normal-sized Media Centre. There must be something else behind. Be aware that if words is not spread, we all risks this strategy could be in considerations (with a lot of excuses) at Eurovision 2025 in Basilea

No changes regarding the voting:

Tomislav Štengl, Head of Delegation for Croatia at the Eurovision Song Contest and Reference Group member, has confirmed that there will be no changes to the voting for the Eurovision Song Contest 2025. He confirmed in an interview with the Croatian broadcaster this morning that there will be no change from the 50% jury and 50% televoting voting method. Mr Štengl explained that:

“Different combinations were changed at the Eurovision Song Contest. There was only the jury, then the audience, and half-and-half jury, then only the audience. There is always some flaw, it cannot be 100 percent good for everyone. For two years now, the audience winner has finished second. However, the position of the EBU at the moment is that nothing will change. The principle of 50:50 jury and audience remains”

Major changes of the voting presentation have just been introduced on JESC:

Needless to say it received mainly negative reactions from our ESC community. People didn't like this 🙃 idea at all.

Absolutely horrendous change, it looks ghastly

The AI postcards are also... a choice

I think I did it once while hosting WorldVision :LOL:

haha - pls don't hold it against me what I just said :D

I think it's totally fine to do this for hardcore ESC geeks like us but for casual viewers? :D - especially for an event aimed at kids? - I don't think viewers can really follow most of the given/received points.

I would like Eurovision to go back to announce the Top 3 since just announcing the 12's feels quite rushed and since it's the jury voting, it's usually the same entry (vocally strong, in English and some Scandi-/Western-Pop).

I agree with all you said... Been thinking about it recently that they should go back to announcing 8,10 and 12, since it feels too rushed as it is right now. But I'm afraid it's only going to go in the "wrong" direction...

My opinion in the above:

I genuinely think the EBU would sooner move the contest to somewhere that will put on the show in full with all the bells and whistles.

Eurovision village, turquoise carpet etc aside… Having the show in one night with anywhere between 35 and 43 countries competing is totally unrealistic - especially as every effort was made last year to cut down the final (which didn’t really happen anyway!)

This won´t happen, ESC kompakt (Germanys biggest fansite) contacted Edi Estermann who´s Head of communication and he said the following:

"If the city of Basel were to reject the financial contribution, the event would actually have to be massively reduced and, in particular, the planned side events would be cancelled. In addition to the grand finale on May 17th, the two semi-finals would of course also take place."

my early (more or less) baseless prediction for the qualifiers:

Q: :se::fi::ee::lv::lt::ua::cz::sl::rs::gr::al::am::pt::be::nl:

borderline: :no::ie::au::hr::ge::az::ro::pl:

NQ: :lu::at::me::sm::lu::mt::cy::dk::md::is:

I think Israel won't participate...

Part of the referendum includes removal of the semi finals which leads me to think another host city may need to be selected, or even country.

Sorry, but that´s just not true and for some reason I think you didn´t even bother to read my post properly.

What else does reducing 3 shows down to 1 mean? One big semi final? I think not.

I highlighted the part for you once again. I think this is just a case of "lost in translation".
