I'm not sure about it, but I think they mean that it will increase the chance that countries like Morocco, Tunesia, Lebanon, etc. would join the contest if Israël withdraws.

Some countries seem to have a problem with Israël in the contest and refuse to join.xshrug

In other hand Armenia and Azerbaijan have politic problems, too. But both of them keep joining contest. Armenia withdrew only when host is Azerbaijan. It doesn't make sense to me not to join only beacuse of that a country you have problems is in.

This is a good thing not to join Eurovision when you have racist feelings. This is quite cross to Eurovision soul. But still, doesn't make sense if this is the situation.

Well.it is not exactly politic problem like Armenia and Azerbaijan,
but Arab countries (apart from Egypt and Jordan) do not recognize Israel as a country.
We can say that this situation is more similar to Kosovo, than Armenia/Azerbaijan.

Yeah, Arab countries have very longer and more serious problems with Israel (and vice versa), than Azerbaijan with Armenia. Like GRE said, e.g. Lebanon don't even recognize Izrael as independent state, and people in Lebanon just can't hear/know anything about their neighbour.

Liechtenstein will not debut, as their channel is private as far as I know. Not sure if Bosnia and Poland are coming back though.

As far as Tunisia goes, I doubt that's true. If it is, I want Canada in the competition!!!

wow, Macedonia, Vatican City, Slovenia, Cyprus and Bulgaria aren't even mentioned in the British one, and Slovakia, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Andorra only get a mentioned that Jon Ola Sand has talked with them about their return, Monaco, Morocco, Portugal and Turkey are also included in that last bit. But theres no mention of Tunisia in the greek one there. Heres what the brit one says:

Czech Republic – The Czech broadcaster Česká televize (ČT) have commented that they have no plans to return to the contest, abstention from the 2014 contest has not yet been confirmed however.
Greece – The Greek government has announced that it will shut down the radio and TV services of the state broadcaster ERT. This could inhibit their participation in the 2014 contest.
Kazakhstan – Kazakhstan is negotiating to join the European Broadcasting Union. However, Kazakhstan is located outside of the European Broadcasting Area meaning the nation must first join the Council of Europe in order to qualify for EBU membership.
Kosovo – Kosovo's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Petrit Selimi told the Swedish television programme Korrespondenterna that he thought Kosovo would be granted EBU membership and acceptance into the Eurovision in time for the 2014 edition.[44][45] However, Kosovo has yet to be recognized as an independent country by the International Telecommunications Union, which is a requirement for full membership in the EBU.
Liechtenstein – 1 Fürstentum Liechtenstein Television (1FLTV) previously sought government subsidies to support membership in the EBU.[47] The broadcaster originally intended to participate in 2013, however it has yet to join the EBU which is a requirement for entering the contest.
Luxembourg – The chief executive officer of RTL Télé Lëtzebuerg, Alain Berwick, stated that Luxembourg would not return to the contest, citing the potential financial burden of hosting the contest and a lack of public interest as reasons for this decision.
Poland – A decision regarding a return to the 2014 Contest by Telewizja Polska (TVP) is expected in Autumn 2013. Poland withdrew in 2012 due to the broadcaster's primary financial focus being on the 2012 UEFA European Football Championship (which Poland co-hosted with Ukraine) along with the 2012 Summer Olympics.
In addition to the countries mentioned above, Jon Ola Sand said to the press on 10 May 2013 that there have been talks with other broadcasters that were absent in 2013 that may potentially be interested in returning. These countries include:
-Andorra
-Bosnia & Herzegovina
- Monaco
-Morocco
-Portugal
-Slovakia
-Turkey

They shouldn't but they should send something like Kaliopi's. Since 2012, I have an attract on Macedonia because of Kaliopi.

CT and RTVSLO already stated they have no intention to join, Andorra already stated they have no finances, how the hell Vatican City make a debut? They are a religious country with the population of popes cardinals and swiss guards and no one else so how the fu** they make a debut or get Pope Francis to sing for them. Only reason you see Macedonia on the possible withdrawl list in wikipedia greece. Because its weitten by Greeks.

Its been changed back to how it was now anyway  but anyway apparently Ukraine owes the EBU 3 million/billion (cant remember which it was) so that's the reason for its withdrawel.

RTVSLO already stated they have no intention to join

excuse me, but where exactly have you found this out?

yes, it's true that RTVSLO has been very disapointed with our results this year, but ESC and EMA or Misija Evrovizija in the past were, and are still the most viewed TV shows every year.

as for our participation next year, RTVSLO only said, that everything will be known around november/december, when they will make a plan for the next years programme sheme. they said nothing about confirming our participation or withdrawing from the contest, so there still is a hope for us
