I'm sorry I don't agree about the oomph (I'm moved enough as it is by the arrangement), and to make it a clunky structure like the Serbian song would just be playing it down to the audience. I never even thought of it as being country influenced, so I don't think that's obvious at all. It sounds like a pedal steel guitar is used but very minimally and it helps the flow of the song and makes it more individual.

And i am not sure if its so unlucky for Birgit,
because if you have a look at the estonian results, she was VERY lucky.
So,its kind of a balance right now.

How was she lucky, what great song was she up against? I honestly don't remember.

Obviously different songs can have a different style, but this one in this ballad style is arguably a high quality within that style, I don't remember any equivalent song in their preselection.

She deserved to win yes, very much so.

However if the same song goes to Malmo it will not qualify. No chance at all. There really are two keys here to qualify.

The first is they need the jury onside.Birgit has the vocals but the juries will not reward a dated arrangement like this.Trust me the song is country inspired and the electronic piano etc will not be rewarded. The juries love to see live instruments on stage and by changing from country inspired electronic,to string orchestra it lifts the jury score right up.

As for oomph i agree the song is emotional now mainly due to the refrains BUT it will be forgot by the end of the show. The televoters need to remember her in enough numbers to vote.A third backing singer will add depth and give her more room to show off her voice.

Remember its not about what any one person thinks. Its about ticking as many boxes as possible to appeal to as wide a demographic as possible. The semi is as hard as iv seen before, shes in the coffin slot of 2 and they have a low diaspora in the semi, surrounded by other female ballads.
Birgit deserves the right arrangement and stage show to really show her off.

I happen to think both the song (song potential) and Birgit are as good as any ballad in both semis, but there are strengths they can play to within the song, and they must do that.Id be very very surprised if we dont get instruments on stage and the country dropped for a string arrangement within the same meolody.

We will soon find out.

I think it's one of the poorest Eurovision contests I've seen in years, and appealing to a wider demographic can be great unless it dilutes something so much it just becomes middle of the road mush. If you want people to remember her alot dress her up in a silly costume and have people doing weird dancing on stage lol. You can't really do much about the draw, the main thing is just to make it memorable for those that appreciate it. Even if it got to the final I doubt it would have much chance of winning, it's not in English and it isn't gimmicky enough. But as most winners I think pretty forgettable anyway I don't care.

I can't imagine this in the final. It just comes off as too anonymous and uninspiring, especially surrounded by all those other ballads. Besides, it took me 3-4 listens before I realized that it's actually a very sweet song with a nice melody.

Same for me. That's one of the problems of this song.

More changes:
Birgit will move around on stage.
Slight changes in melody.
Electronic piano has been replaced with a real one.
Strings have been replaced with string orchestra.
And there's a part where Birgit can now showcase her voice. :|
New version will be released soon.
They'll keep working with the vocals until Eurovision but they won't touch the instrumental part anymore.
Foreign versions are also coming.
Her last name has been dropped, according to eurovision.tv, it's just Birgit now.

So, when will we hear this new version?

I hope it'll be in time to be included on the CD aswell...

I agree with what previous people have said, the song is quite cute and nice but anonymous and especially with its running order now it won't survive at all without any changes.

I liked it pretty much straight away, and I'm sure those who are used to well crafted measured ballads will feel the same way. Compared to all the anonymous ballads around it which are so uninspiring I'm very happy with this song. Obviously good songs very often don't qualify from the semi or even from preselection, but that's often not because of the song more because the audience just picks something cheap and flashy. My picks normally don't do well, but I continue listening to them way beyond the flashier more popular things. It was always a long shot for an Estonian song and a tasteful ballad to qualify anyway, so why worry about that? I doubt changes will make much difference, just most likely weaken it for nothing.

Is it me or this is the most old-fashioned song of the bunch this year? Nonetheless, it's growing on me - 6 points.

I love this song because it sounds like an entry from the nineties. I don't see that as a negative. There are plenty of other modern songs in the compeition and there is room left for entries such as this.

When did people start demanding Eurovision had to be in the latest fashionable Western style? lol, Eurovision has traditionally been about having older styles in probably more than more hip things.

Anyway what is fashionable today will be considered very cheesy in just a short while. And good music lasts whatever style it is in. I also think the lyrics are probably better than the average Eurovision song too.

New version will be released on Monday.

Birgit thinks her biggest competitors in her semi are Denmark, Ukraine and Russia.

And she's going to that Eurovision in Concert event.
