6 points.... thats great!!!! can't remember when I gave more than 2 points to a song from Portugal. So 6 points thats a top ten placement.....
Denmark is almost always overrated.
Of all bullcrap written on this forum, this one takes the price. Overrated? Most other years we're hardly ever rated or mentioned at all so the fact that you can throw out a thing like that makes me wonder if you're mistaking us with another Scandinavian country (namely Sweden?) or just haven't been following ESC before this year. I'm not a fan of our previous entries, but I do believe that this song, for once, deserves the recognition and "hype" it has gotten so far. It's not even a hype though, but don't worry, you probably won't hear more from us when all entries are chosen.
I may have been generically frivolous but I seem to have this vague idea of seeing Denmark well up there in every poll and OGAE voting every year since god knows. In fact, if I try and make a memory effort (back to 2010, say) you were first everywhere, with one of those songs that live only inside the ESC bubble and are adored by die hard fans, but which give eurovision a bad name throughout the rest of humanity. And you scored high, too!
More or less the same thing hapenned in 2011. Last year you weren't first in polls, but you were one of the "favourites".The only difference was that you scored low.
And now it starts again. Not that I have a problem with it, not right now. Even I have Denmark among my favourites at the moment
Now, don't you think bullcrap is quite a strong term to my modestly fair overrated? Come on man, at the start of the century you even won with one of the most depressing piece of spooniness the century had seen so far! Want more overrated than that?
I don't disagree with most of your post, but calling us overrated is just wrong. We're only hyped and rated above everyone else because we're in the starting phase of ESC. When usual fan-faves such as Sweden, Serbia, Estonia, UK, Russia, Italy, Norway etc. announce their songs we'll drop tremendously in the polls and our odds of even making it to the final will be sky-high again. It's been like that all years, so there's no need to worry really.
Not really. Denmark has always stayed in the top 10 of the betting odds and the OGAE voting. I'm not saying overrated, since sometimes you deserved to be on the top, but it's true that Denmark is almost always a favourite.
I'm less and less convinced about Denmark's chances, although it's my preferred winner out of the big favorites.
Sounds like the kind of universally liked song that will flop in the actual voting. Like Slovakia 2010.
Part of Slovakia's flopping had partly to with the political state of ESC where a country like Slovakia is more or less chanceless against countries with heavy diaspora help, countries with a somewhat stable bloc help or "politically important" countries... also Kristina looked very uncomfortable throughout her performance, and the "Hallelujah" parts were messed up by the background singer.
I think Denmark chances are better, although I get your concern.
I agree with this. Because Horehronie was one of my pre-favorites and I was disappointed by the performance in the SF, but still it could go through if it wasn't Slovakia but another country with neighbors and diaspora.
Denmark isn't in the same shoes with Slovakia for that (it has its neighbors that support it when it sends something strong), plus this is a song that is usually enjoyed by non-ESC fans too, unlike Horehronie that I remember most of my friends (non-ESC fans) that didn't like that song when I showed to them. This didn't happen with "Only Teardrops", it has the chance to be liked by non-ESC fans too. I don't see Denmark flopping at all! This song has what the previous entries of Denmark hadn't, it has something interesting and it's not boring. If the blandest of bland songs "come on girls come boys in this crazy crazy world" came so high (thanks to juries too) then why not "Only Teardrops" too?
