So,
until now we have 39 countries (Bulgaria & Bosnia included).
Still no news from Serbia & Moldova.

There is no way Serbia can say no after finishing in the top 10! Won't be surprised if Moldova says no but they only got themselves to blame because they often get great results.

The reason why Moldova may withdraw is because of financial reasons I think. TRM is a very poor broadcaster.

Exactly, and two DNQ's wont help. They can't be throwing music into a contest where they haven't qualified. But then they shouldn't be having such a massive NF for such a small country.

The first bad news came from Turkey...
Then Portugal...
Now Croatia & Bosnia...

And we still don't have any clue about Bulgaria or Moldova (hopefully Serbia is in).

Even if Bulgaria stays,
and even if both Serbia & Moldova are in,
the maximoum number of participants will be 40.
There is always Australia though

So we'll have at least 17 participants/semi-final
I'm content with that. We can't drop under this number anymore now

I'm fairly optimistic about seeing Serbia in, at least. Most people considered their song a borderline qualifier at best in the run-up to the contest, but they managed to bring everything together well and end in the top 10 on their returning year - surely they can't complain about that.

Moldova withdrawing seems unlikely to me as well, though I think in their case it might just be my heart speaking out over my mind. They've been in the contest every year since I started watching, and I've enjoyed their entries almost every year, so I'd miss them for sure if they sat out for 2016.

Apart from that, I'm still hoping to see Bosnia and Herzegovina back but don't think it'll be likely; meanwhile, Turkey and Australia look like they're both a 50/50 to me.

I'll be happy enough if we can end up with another 40-song contest, I guess. More is always better, but somehow having that '4' at the start makes it look more satisfying.

So? We'll know the participants tomorrow?

No, I think they will only announce the final list of participants later, maybe in December like usually. B&H also got an extended deadline til the end of the month to try and find a sponsor for their Eurovision participation.

So from that moment on, no countries can apply to participate, right?

The application deadline was a few week's ago I think. This was the deadline for withdrawing.

Moldova is in.
So we do have 40 countries this year.
Let's see what is going to happen with Australia.

I'm hoping we'll end with 41 countries one way or another - it's always nice to have more countries than the year before. As long as we stay at the 40 mark, though, I can't complain too much. We should probably get something out of Turkey, Australia or Bosnia & Herzegovina, but obviously they could all fall through, so... blegh, I wish they could just all come back :)
