Re: BELGIUM 2013

I personally didn't really like 'Me and My Guitar', but the performance was truly AWESOME!! Respect! 2008 was awfull imo. I prefer 'Sanomi' over 'O Julissi'. 'Sanomi' was fresh and something new.

Can someone enlighten me what was so "awesome" with Tom Dice's performance? He was fake-playing a guitar and was standing at one place... very ordinary performance to a very ordinary song imo.

I also don't get the comparison between 'Sanomi' and 'O Julissi'?... yes fake language, but that would be like saying all entries in English have been the same... there's absolutely no resemblance between the two other than that.

^ I heard the supporters found the simplicity touching or so. For me it just matched the (imo) cheesy lyrics. The melody was very generic also.

Well, everyone are of course entitled to their opinion.

I for one don't really get how one could be "touched" by it though since it wasn't a "touching" song to begin with... I mean singing about him and his guitar? lol

True though... it fitted the whole generic theme.

And of course the juries loved it... the more generic the better for them

It was plain and simple, that made it awesome for me. Everyone has an own definition for 'awesome' ;).

Nope, they don't really ressemble eachother, although it made me think of Sanomi, the first time I heard it. I also think there a slight ressemblance in genre. Nevertheless am I entitled to say that I prefer 'Sanomi over 'O Julissi'.

Fair enough, taste differs :)

Of course you are entitled to prefer whatever, I didn't mean anything else ;)

Exactly ;). The performance for me was awesome. I can totally understand someone else found it more generic.
The live performance was the only time I actually liked it. The song is indeed bland and cheesy :p.

Come on, a young introverted boy singing about his love to music (his guitar) that no one understands but he keeps on chasing his dreams; isn't this heart-rending?
In spite of the fact that I personally would of placed it lower I can see how such a concept appeals to certain types of taste and given the weak overall quality of 2010 I find the televoters' ranking understandable (though not reflecting my own impression). The 'jury' and fans nevertheless overwanked it – clearly!!

Sadly I cannot watch Je crois as GEMA makes almost all free music unavailabe in Germany. Judging by his appearance is the style a bit similar to Christophe Maé's? Then I would not mind him going to ESC. :D

It's not the same as Christophe Maé (imo) :p. Maybe this works:

if not, you can listen to a snippet here ;): ultratop.be - Roberto Bellarosa - Je crois

Does not work but strangely I can watch the clip on the site. Thanks a lot. It is nice but in ESC might disappear among the flashier entries. Though one never knows; this year Germany came 6th in televoting with a classic middle-of-the-road song. But a new-entry at #37 is quite bad for an idol single, isn't it? Not that it would say something about the quality.

^True! It's not really flashy indeed, but maybe with a right song, it might work. I think the 'cutie pie'-factor is also an important factor, though imo it shouldn't play a role !

Euhm, you might be right! It's his first week. He released his winning single and it reached number 4 after the final, maybe the interest has already faded. The Francophone Ultratop is bizarre :p. His concert posters are weird as well: white paper, a photo glued on it and info written under the photo :?. I'm curious, if they will play his single in Flanders.

Ah I thought it was his first single. I do not know about the situation in Belgium but in Germany almost every idol winner turns out to be an one-hit-wonder (if at all). People do not seem to be bothered by it though, most of the shows (and there a lots of them) keep achieving satisfying ratings. Personally I won't discriminate against idol contestants of course as long as they show some artistic value and authenticity. But it looks like he does not write songs by himself anyway, does he? He still could serve as the interpreter but I consider it more useful to focus on the songwriters. A good (a.k.a. appealing) song is the fundament – without it one does not get votes.

Re: BELGIUM 2013

The first and winning single was a cover 'Jealous guy'. The situation is almost the same I guess, especially for Flanders. Most of the time the runner-up or someone else gets more fame than the winner (Hadise, Natalia, Kato, Tom Dice,...). This is the first time (if I'm right), a Walloon channel organises a talent show, most of the time they organise a show together with France (it's the same there, with a few exceptions) or Belgians participate in the French versions. So we'll have to see, what's going to happen with him, although I don't have high hopes. If he gets airplay, the album is good and the planned tournee is a success, it might work for him.

'Je crois' is the first song he released that isn't a cover and he didn't write it himself, but his coach Quentin Mosimann (also a winner from Star Academy) & Thierry Leteurtre wrote it. He'll release his album in September, maybe he'll write some songs, but I'm not sure (and imo I don't think he will).

That was not his fault but is forbidden by EBU.
With live-guitar its sounds even better;)

Then it would be better not to "play" it at all.

I'm usually opposing to all sorts of fake-playing instruments

But then the song would loose its meaning, I mean 'Me & My Guitar' without a guitar... :p

Re: BELGIUM 2013

RTBF will organize a new season of The Voice Belgique with Natasha St-Pier & Marc Pinilla (Suarez) as coaches xheart. Maybe they'll send the new winner to Eurovision. Strange they are organizing it again, I thought it was too expensive. Hopefully they will still have a budget for Eurovision  ...

Re: BELGIUM 2013

I don't think VTM is going to steal audience from the RTBF and the participants in both shows aren't really known in Flanders or Wallonia :p. It was probably a success and they probably want to have the rights instead of their rival RTL-TVi xpuke.
But still, they were critized for buying such an expensive program. If they would pause, I wouldn't mind, I (& maybe the Walloon viewers) would prefer this show again and this time with awesome jurors. Since I saw Marc & Natasha, I've been excited the whole day
