Re: BELGIUM 2013

The question is: will RTBF still participate , they had like the lowest viewer figures ever (ok the weather was good, but still...)

Plus the fact that no RTBF entry was able to qualify to the final since 2003.

Re: BELGIUM 2013

Honestly, I hope they do stay because they like to send always something special (not always good like 2007 and 2009:s) but ok, it's not like we are Greece by sending every year the same.

Don't know if VRT would like to choose the candidate every year. They do it already in JESC but you see the interest has dropped since then...

2009 was an absolute disgrace:p
com"on an Elvis-imitator:p
Shocked that Armenia gave us a point for that:p

It was catchy and more innovative than some other songs that year, like Ukraine
One of the best songs of 2009 xcheer :D

Re: BELGIUM 2013

Sure we watched the same song?

We did :D And I really like this song :) In my top 10 that year, and better than stuff like Ukraine and Norway
You may not like it, but if I was in a jury, I'd give Belgium a high note :D

Re: BELGIUM 2013

^^

i find it horrible, almost as horrible as 2007, which I will never understand how Georgia could give us 12 points for that:p

I'm also wondering who RTBF could send??

Don't see many belgians in their charts.
Their highest is (still) Gotye.

Actually it would be nice to send Gotye. It would bring Australia even closer to the contest
but I doubt he can make another song like "Somebody that I used to know" altough i also like "Feel better"

@Sim

2007 wasn't good at all, so personally, I wouldn't compare it to 2009, which I really like.

And Gotye would have been a good choice, but he must come up with a good song, the name won't be enough.

The "Belgian" entries for this moment in Ultratop 50 (French part)

Noa Moon - Paradise

Gotye - Somebody that I used to know

Basto & Yves V - Cloudbreaker

and that's it:p

I liked 2009 a lot !

I hope they do stay, so they can surprise us again with a wacky entry .

Puggy would be great too:

@Sim: a lot of Walloon artist don't chart. I pick them up via Pure FM.

Re: BELGIUM 2013

I see Gotye being mentioned alot on here, it's almost on the same "realistic level" as Adele being mentioned the other year in the UK thread.

And while I know he is originally from Belgium, the guy can't hardly be categorized as a Belgian act right? He's been a Australian resident since 2 years old and that's where his career started.

This comment is as valid as saying that Vanilla Ninja and Celine Dion couldn't represent Switzerland, because they had nothing to do with it.

Nah, I didn't really mean it like that. Of course he could hypothetically enter for Belgium, but it's just that people mention him like he is a Belgian act which I'd hardly call him.

I mean it's not as if people discuss Vanilla Ninja in the Swiss thread right?

Because they won't represent Switzerland again xrofl2 That was REALLY random back then in 2005 :?

Re: BELGIUM 2013

Gotye mentionned himself several times he is Belgian-Australian or Australian-Belgian, so yes he can pass as a semi-Belgian & semi-Australian act ;).

You do get my point. I mean we don't mention random acts in the country threads which are unattached to the countries normally.

It's not that I don't get why Gotye is mentioned in here, it's just that firstly I think chances are very narrow and secondly I think he is mostly an Australian act.
