Re: BELARUS 2018

There are 3 GEMS in this NF, all of them I like for different reasons, I hope one of them wins:

1. Shuma
2. Radiovolna (brilliant lyrics)
3. Gunesh

Shuma is fantastic... I have to say that I have also warmed to Alekseev's song though...

Well it didn't win did it? And here it's been pointed out but the broadcaster doesn't care...

I think it's not that people didn't "give a damn", they simply didn't know which I guess shows how little interest there was in the Polish selection  I didn't know it actually hmm ;)

Just listened to that [in]famous Alekseev's song, and what is all the fuss about? This is a DNQ song...

Shuma sounds depressing and uninteresting to me.

Bring back Melania Trump of Belarus!

Although hes only my #2 I have to admit that hes the only one who has realistically Chances to Qualify from the belarussian Selection. I think his Song is very Eurovisionish. And lets not forget that :by: is in the weaker Semi.

I wished that :by: chose Shuma, but unfortunately its a 100% DNQ.

I'm still surprised people are discussing Alekseev's entry as if it'll end up in ESC when apparently it's ineligible xshrug

Re: BELARUS 2018

Just heard Alekseev's song and it's beautiful, the best I've listened to so far in any national final regarding eurovision. I understand there's a bit of a commotion surrounding it but I just don't wish to find out about it or know any depressing details. There are already enough horrible/uninteresting songs chosen so far. I want this in Lisbon!

Not sure if the (very impressive) staging adds up to the song. I believe the song is very good for what it is by itself.

Apparently the Melody was a bit changed so that he can compete with "Forever"

"BTRC, the Belarusian national broadcaster has ruled that Alekseev is eligible to compete in the country’s selection process for Eurovision 2018. Alekseev has made changes to the melody of his song “Forever”, which has meant that BTRC no longer deems the song to have breached the contests rules."

Surely its EBU not BTRC that decides whether a song breaches Eurovision's rules?

Re: BELARUS 2018

When was the song actually released commercially? Surely it's always been the Belarus selection that's the problem... it seems like even without changing the melody, it's not any more against the rules than other songs that have been allowed at Eurovision in the past.

Exactly!

Well, it'll be interesting when he wins (because it's already settled $$$) what EBU will say...

Re: BELARUS 2018

i'm looking forward to some drama xyaay

but if i have to be objective.. ebu should (and probably will) treat "forever" the same as the italian song and also some songs in previous years. So let it in, forgive and forget:D

Yeah - its a great song that deserves a wider audience, but how can EBU forgive and forget their own rules? What special treatment has the Italian song had and what past songs are you talking about?

1-EBU does that from time to time:lol: But what i meant to say was: it would be unfair to modify rules in the middle of the ongoing season
2-The chorus of "Non mi avete fatto niente" was used in a san remo reject from 2016
3-"1944", "Solayoh", and "Birds" (and i assume there is more, i don't even know about)
