Jamala didn't abolish any ESC rules at all. The song hasn't been released commercially until September 1, the video of the early version performance (the original one was private) surfaced after the contest and had a 0 advantage in the ESC.
According to UN: "Genocide is a crime under international law". This is humanitarian song about the crime which was recognized by all EBU members (including Russia ) against all criminals (if some politician is a criminal it doesn't make it a political song).


Most def BTRC has already contacted the EBU just like STB/UABC did in 2016. But unlike Jamala Alekseev performed his song in front of uncomparably bigger audience and in another country and it was available to everyone on YT. This "change" of music is one big lulz
They can say that it was viewed by the fans only - and they will vote for him in any case so it doesn't give him advantage.

lots of songs are political/intened to provoke... from don't deny, to eastern european funk...and EBU allows them.. (fine with me)
and yes, jamala had no advantage in the ESC, but i still think she shouldn't have perfomed it before..

but if i have to be objective.. ebu should (and probably will) treat "forever" the same as the italian song and also some songs in previous years. So let it in, forgive and forget

But according to your logic Alekseev also shouldn't have performed it before.
I also wish he could submit another song, he can do so much better than this one

But what i meant to say was: it would be unfair to modify rules in the middle of the ongoing season

A more interesting one for me was Tatiyana Prohorenko - Seryj Valera, something a bit different. But she wasn't given more than a minute to sing it even, which is joke. At present have no interest in the others.

If Belarus wants to have chance for Top-10 they should go for Alekseev. However this song and artist has no relation to Belarus and does not represent Belarusian culture/scene like previous entry. Naviband proved that Belarus has talented artists. You should use ESC not for competing but for showcasing and developing yourselves. Fuck all haters.

Alekseev Belarusian representative will perform as invited guest on our NF final. Waiting for obvious questions on stage.

His producer said he's proud that at least 2 Ukrainians can participate in Lisbon. What does it have to do with Belarusian music is another question.
