This selection continues to be a farce, blatant set-up for Alekseev to win
So apparently Shuma's entry was "investigated" for "unoriginal lyrics" , but still no word on the fact that Alekseev can enter with a totally non-eligible entry

This is exactly how I feel. I actually am interested in three of the songs here, but I feel like there's no point even following this now. They've shown such favouritism and it's unfair. An ineligible song will be allowed to win just because they want a big name. Only point in watching the NF would be for the possible drama as I think sparks could fly.
But it's all set for Alekseev so why even bother caring...

This mostly happens because EBU ALLOWED Jamala song to take part at ESC and WIN being performed before September 1. Once that they make exceptions ( like aka.
in ESC) then messing actions (like in this case) will follow next!

That's a different issue. If it's disqualified, then, doh.
But, I've not been paying attention. Why exactly is it not eligible? I thought even the Russian version passed the Sept 1 rule?

Well, the English version is technically the same song... just in English... and from my understanding it's not eligible but the Belarussian broadcast is allowing this entry anyways because it's all set for Alekseev and we already know that Belarus is notorious for changing entries after they've been chosen.

Second that, 2017 is my favorite Belarussian entry to date, for once they didn't change their entry or had a messy selection and they even managed one of their best results to date by just staying genuine. Now someone comes from abroad with alot of cash and team behind him and just "steals" the selection it seems, such a shame. If they wanted him they should have just gone for an internal selection then, but I assume the chaos started when he entered in the last minute (since he seems to have been declined in Ukraine first).

Shuma - "Hmarki" is AWESOME..fantastic fusion of Slavic traditional singing and hard electronics...I love it..i hope they will perform it good live..
I loved their entry last year so much...but if Shuma wins and is good live i will like Belarus 2018 even more..
