The EBU seems increasingly focused on the commercial impact of the contest on the wider music industry (so is Melodifestivalen), so I wouldn't be surprised if they revise the jury criteria again soon.
Eurovision's relevance was waning until Måneskin's 2021 win so it's a bit off to say the EBU doesn't care about producing commercially successful songs. They definitely want the buzz, but they're also using platforms like TikTok, just as the music industry does, to try and make songs go viral and maintain their mainstream appeal. Some artists won't even participate unless they see potential for success after the contest, which indicates how important that is. If Eurovision can demonstrate commercial success post-contest, it would significantly boost it overall. Melodifestivalen and UMK serve as the primary examples of that.I doubt that. Otherwise they wouldn't have removed the juries from the semi finals. The overall quality is in decline which makes it more difficult to have a lasting impact in the music industry.
EBU focus is to produce the biggest entertainment show. More buzz, more viewers, more sponsors, more money.
I think that gingerale is absolutely right. EBU focuses on the show, Eurovision is 70 years old and it never had a relevance for the music industry. every now and then there is a commercially successful song but that has always been like that. EBU uses TikTok to address a younger crowd and that works.Eurovision's relevance was waning until Måneskin's 2021 win so it's a bit off to say the EBU doesn't care about producing commercially successful songs. To be honest, it would be ideal forto lead the odds, letting KAJ
keep their televoting underdog charm hehe.
Nice songbut lots of expectation to deliver.
Arguable he hasn’t got the best voice, there are much more stronger and professional, for example Justyna. Since Eurofans are mostly pop listeners opera voice sounds wow to them but actually go to the opera in any random city and you can find opera singers even better than JJ. The case they are just trying to repeat Nemo (Czechia joins team) mixing opera, modern sounds, electro music etc.Just because you've got the best voice doesn't mean you'll win the jury.
France 2009 alsoFunny - she was #1 in the odds for a while in 2018![]()
Eurofans only have little influence on the result and to win eurovision wide appeal is also not necessary. with 26 entries its quite a small percentage that votes for the winner. how the juries will vote always is difficult to predict, its easier to predict how the televoters will vote but that also depends on the running order we dont know now.Arguable he hasn’t got the best voice, there are much more stronger and professional, for example Justyna. Still find his voice too high pitched and annoying for my ears, İ cant believe such voicr can have wide appeal
France 2009 also
what we know:Just only a 2% gap between JJ and Sweden in the odds
Hello insiders! I just read that ORF is throwing a lot of money into rhe staging. True?
From what i know the "never seen element" is most likely a "transforming object" and the way this is filmed / broadcast (which i'm not sure if i'm a big fan of). No (real) water though if i'm informed correctlywhat we know:
sergio jaen is the stage director, for sure not the cheapest choice
the staging will be similar to the video
it will be very intimate
JJ will be alone on stage the whole performance
there will be a boat and waves
it will include an element never seen on the esc stage (I am obviously not the only one who believes it will be rain)
I think the first part of the video easily can be transferred to the stage, the waves and water with the led background. I wonder how they will manage the transitions between the different scenes. and the biggest questionmark for me is the last part. we know there wont be any other people on stage thus it will be different from the video.
in recent years we havent got any infos about the austrian staging beforehand. this year is different.

Maybe during the week of rehearsals but it’s March. In recent years, bets have become self-fulfilling prophecies
I noticed this too. There is a gap between the reaction videos, where you can see often a astounding physical reaction and comments for instance on ESC- kompakt.Maybe it has to do with poor staging and vocal performances in the past.I still dunno if the casuals are going to like this? In terms of the fandom, it's doing well on the Scoreboard app but when I read the fan opinions online I don't see huge 'love' for it generally.
