he doesn't really have that much of an idea about eurovision does he.
it would be totally ok to dislike the song but his arguments are pretty weak
He has even less of an idea than I do about what's suitable for Eurovision and what isn't. That's saying something.

In case German-speaking people are interested, there will be an ESC Kompakt interview with JJ on Wednesday:

A few days earlier 1:05:00. Benny double tongue. The Germans have a word for it: Schleimer.

:at: JJ says the performance in May will be something that really hasn't been done before at Eurorovision. Not a fan of these statements because it is almost always a let down.

He spoke about an element of the performance and not the whole performance.
Its true that such announcements usually lead into nothing but I think this time we can expect a cool and/or spectacular staging.
My first idea was rain. I remember there was water on stage with Jedward but nothing that simulated real rain, or am I wrong?
a huge wave pool would be cool :D

He was ask to describe the staging with emojis and one of the emojis was a "big wave". 🤔

Very strong entry.
In comparison with the majority, I believe that this will do better with televoting than with juries.

So what will be this years no 1 jury song in your opinion? Like there’s almost no competition. I’d be extremely surprised if :at: wasn’t at least jury top 3.

I'm thinking France and the Netherlands will score higher with the juries than Austria. And honestly, who knows what'll happen in rehearsals? It's not gonna be a runaway win. Just because you've got the best voice doesn't mean you'll win the jury. Sweden is a wild card, but like Claude and Louane, KAJ are extremely experienced. Juries like engaging, sincere and charismatic performances, so anything that comes across as, "look at me, my voice is amazing” may get ignored. Gjon's Tears had a much better song than Wasted Love and while winning the jury, he got some criticism for seeming a little too full of himself.

I searched so hard. Finally I found a dismissive negative reaction. "This will flop":

I love how he compares it to a song the artist of which he doesn't even know exactly... A tribute to Neo.... :ROFLMAO: Boy got stuck in the Matrix.

I do think his staging will be similar to Australia 2019 but with the vibes and atmosphere of Bulgaria 2017 staging. I imagine a boat on stage with fog and rain effects and the camera rotating around him who stands to the mast of the boat like in the clip, giving an immersive look. We can also imagine black lines to create a cinematic feeling maybe. This is what i think they will do. It could be a really cool idea but not revolutionnary as he says but good point for him, you don't need to innovate if you want win. They will try to recreate parts of the video clip on stage i believe.

I loved Gjons Tears song. I think he has made poor career choices since - his new music wasn't great and didn't do well, strange styling with the tears on his face, didn't make the most of his career in Switzerland etc. I see he's recently signed a new deal in the US so maybe things will get better.

I can’t get the hype. Sure a great singer, the opera part is quite nice and he is indeed impressive, but the rest of the song is lacking any emotion for me. And sorry, but Gjon’s Tears couldn’t win it, don’t think this one will.

I can't see this as a runaway jury winner. It will get low points for the voice and a few of the high points from those who love it, but there's quite a few friendlier jury songs. France, Netherlands, Switzerland, they might not kill Israel this year, got a feeling Luxembourg will do really well with juries. Even if he wins the jury, i don't think it will be by a huge amount.

ORF buckle up. 20 % in the odds.
The gap to Sweden has shrunk to 4%.
