It's good and quality, I like it, but it's not totally for my taste so I gave 8 in the poll and rank it as 8,5/10!

Performance is GREAT, vocals are really strong..

Good luck Austria, it's such a GREAT improvement from last year!! :)

According to the lead singer on the night news, this song is not about love about friendship.

The Makemakes were only my third favorite after JSB and DAWA but I think it's okay that they won and it certainly didn't come as a surprise. The only acts I really didn't want to win are the other three and I'm happy they failed.

I was surprised that Zoe received that many votes even in Austria (yet only dix points from France ) and I thought JSB would be more popular, especially in Austria. And the UK gave douze points to Folkshilfe!

The opening and interval acts were fantastic and I really appreciate the political message directed at Russia.

A televote without a runoff and without juries would have led to the same result this year but I think ORF did a great job with this format and they should keep it for next year, as least as far as the final is concerned.

Now I'm wondering how successful the Makemakes can be in May among all those ballads... Well, at least their piano is on fire. ;)

french is one of the most successfull languages in eurovision.

Are you stuck in the 50s, 60s or 70s?

I didn't say WHEN it was one of the most successful languages, but overall it's a fact, that it is! ;)
Of course my statement was the result of my frustration about the english version and not to be taken too seriously.

Thus said, I still think, Zoe in french would not only have had a serious chance of winning the austrian final, but also would have stand out in the contest and would have collected a lot of points. When you look for instance in french forums, they were really enthusiastic about her (wich is no wonder :D)

Zoe in French would have meant 12 points from France for sure but it just wouldn't have felt right as Austria's host entry. Maybe in another year, it would have been fine.

For me it would have felt PERFECTLY as Austria's host entry. :D (sous condition qu'elle ait chanté en français, bien sûr :D)
But I'm quite happy with the Makemakes as well. xmusic

I think Zoe in French would have gotten more points than France, which would have been hilarious.

I might have supported a song like hers in another year but a host entry should not feel completely foreign to the host country. I suppose it should feel more foreign than Folkshilfe, though.

Well, the illogicality of an Austrian singer performing a song originally written in French rewritten to also feature English lyrics would have fit with other traditional ESC idiosyncrasies perfectly. But it was just that the performance in the final was incredibly weak. Out of all the entries I liked Zoe's and Celina Ann's the least, not because they were women but because they were incredibly clichéd and run of the mill and because their vocal presentations were simply subpar.

* Side note: In the end I feel it cost Zoe a considerable amount of votes constantly bringing her father along to all the shows. He, along with his band who shall not be named, are Austrian pop culture hate (for some, incredibly, love-hate) figures.

In the end it was The Makemakes who put up the most professional show and had, I feel, the best, most rounded musical performance of them all. So they deserve to represent Austria.
