Poor Emma xcry1

She really didn't fit the mold of what Italian entries have been since their comeback. All the others have a little something in common and she sticks out like a sore thumb

Re: AUSTRALIA 2015 - Guy Sebastian

The juries usually like Italy because Italy usually sends classy songs and give a good performance. They didn't last year, and so they flopped.

I'd imagine Italy will do decently with both the jury and televoters this year - and, to bring this back to the topic, I think they'll do particularly well in Australia. We've got the diaspora here, and Australian Eurovision fans seem to quite like the song. I've been running a poll of Australian fans on a Facebook fan club, and while it's still at a small sample size (about 10-15 voters per week at the moment), Italy is a clear favourite, going back and forth between first and second place (with Estonia) while far ahead of third.

What is the current full rank of all the songs?

We had a few more voters in previous weeks - I think people might be holding off at the moment because so many songs are coming out and I only refresh it once a week. Still, the relative scores haven't changed much. France has had a surge upwards after being near last, Estonia and Italy have been swapping constantly (I think Estonia was ahead by 20 at the end of last week), but otherwise it's pretty much been the same.

Since it's been a week since I put this up, and most of the votes were in the first few days, assume that all the recently released revamps aren't considered here. And of course the last 7 or so songs aren't in here as well. It'll be interesting to put up the new one tomorrow with 35 songs or whatever it'll be - I'll post an update here with the new results if there's still interest.

In reference to Italy..

The performances have generally been good but whether the songs have been more 'classy' than some others that have done far less well is highly questionable. 'Classy' actually sounds like something based more on reputation than anything else, it's so vague anyone can argue on favour of all kinds of songs. I wouldn't say this year's song is that good, therefore to me it isn't that classy. Songs I think are better I would consider more 'classy' I suppose. The idea of some vocal trio in a bombastic song doesn't actually sound classy at all.

Pretty sure Guy's already said he's leaning towards a ballad, so I think we're going to take you up on your dare

Ah great. I was hoping we would finally get a ballad this year.

Is he still leaning towards a ballad, even after that he's supposedly writing a new song and not just taking some random unreleased album track, or are you taking this from the press conference :?

Yeah, you're right - I'm just taking this from the press conference, so hopefully the rumours of him writing something new are true and we get a non-ballad. My assumption is that he wouldn't think a ballad was the best choice from the album only to change his mind to an upbeat song when he decided to write one from scratch, but we can't know for sure. I'm hoping for him to send a new, mid-tempo (I'm not the biggest fan of his upbeat stuff), and most importantly GOOD song!

Re: AUSTRALIA 2015 - Guy Sebastian

I saw he posted that but assumed he could also have been working on a revamp of a song from his album. It's certainly a positive sign though.

It's either a revamp / remix
or a new song.

I am hoping whatever it is its going to be like Battle Scars

I am really annoyed by people who are against the idea of Australia competing in the Eurovision. It's fun and they deserve it if you ask me.

Yes.
What else could it be?

I am thinking it is a new song only because - Guy Sebastian is a prolific songwriter. I am also thinking he will do an up tempo song given that there are so many ballads. I could be completely wrong on this (:?probably am) - it is fun to speculate on what Australia puts forward as their song for Aurovison.

History says that if you give Guy Sebastian a brief to write a new song, he will deliver - going back to 2008 he wrote the song for World Youth Day for the Pope! It was a last minute request for him to write and he wrote "Receive the Power" in one night and this is the result - The Vatican loved it - and Guy is not Catholic!

Yes.
What else could it be?

He could be shortening a song...
or he could have selected a song from the album and he is in the studio for non-ESC reasons

I like Guy Sebastian and I heard of him before. He's good at ballads, but hmm could he just sing something with a kick?
