In one way, it's absolutely hilarious that he just rejected the chance to go after he'd won, but then it's pretty appalling how he led them on and the public voted for him with their own faith and money.

He won 78% of the votes in the final. :? That's a massive slap in the face to the people who voted for him. If it was much closer to 50% and was more split then I wouldn't have as much of a problem. But that does take the piss, it's clear it was just for promotion.

I rarely like the kind of music that Andreas served, but he gave me goosebumps and I can understand why he won the televote! And then he just bitchslaps the whole nation! What is he even doing in Unser song fur if he does not want to represent Germany?!

Ann Sophie's song is not bad, it's actually quite good but the whole performance is rough around the edges. She needs to learn how to own the stage and look more confident, otherwise she will end up in the right side of the scoreboard.

The German public really deserves Kümmert.
Imagine what songs could have been in the final and even in the second round instead ... I could have been totally different. Maybe we would have heard "Mother Earth". I think I need a break after this. Srsly, I'm so disappointed. xcry1

This was highly disrespectful to the audience...

But he made the best decision for Germany. I like Ann Sophie!

xyeah

2 months and a half from now, when Ann Sophie will raise the trophy to the sky, we will all think back of Andreas Kummert and we will silently thank him for saving the day.

Ohh you mean the Barbara Dex trophy..... Well yes since Andreas didn't wanted it, Ann Sophie truly deserves it..

Im glad that Andreas only disappointed me by his decision, but I feel deeply for all who voted for him, as he was Germanys best hope for 2015

Exactly. She is the winner "by default". That's not the way to win is it? Bottom line is that she wasn't the choice of the people. If she was such "an amazing performer" they would have voted for her to win.

But as long as people are happy to bury their heads in the sand over how pathetic this situation is simply because their favourite won, then who am I to say anything? :?

Either way she has won and I'm voting for her so I don't really care.

I don't know if this has already been mentioned here, but the final voting result was 78,7% for Kummert and only 21,3% for Ann-Sophie.
(Source for example: Kopfschütteln und Respekt für Kümmerts ESC-Absage | News)
These numbers make last evening's events even more questionable:
For which song would those 78,7% have voted if Kummert had not participated at all???
Considering this result it is even possible that Ann-Sophie would not have made it to the final without Kummert's participation. So giving the 1st place to that woman is just plain stupid.
Now we have to pay this mistake with another bottom ranking at this year's ESC. Damn.

Don't know but I personally found Ann Sophie's song better than Andreas'. It is currently my TOP10 I rated it 7 pts.

Possible but very unlikely. Best guess is that those votes would be split among other contestants according the share of votes that they actually got.
Hence, Ann Sophie would still be on top.

When I read the comments below the You Tube videos I think I'm one of the few German people who really like her song. It's the same procedure as every year: The Germans hate their song and they say 'We will end in last place' x0s
This makes me angry X-OI The song has a catchy chorus and nice lyrics!! xheya I'm proud she represents our country. xyes

Greetings from Thuringia xwave

I love this song so much! Thanks, Andreas!

The German TV knew how to act, so it was expected that something like this might happen...

I like Black Smoke, but I think I would have felt more comfortable with giving Ann Sophie the title if the result in the final was closer (say 60 - 40 or 55 - 45). We sadly don't know the voting results of the prior rounds, but it's probably safe to say that Andreas Kümmert dominated there too and the percentages of the other artists were probably relatively close together. So, if you remove Andreas Kümmert from the competition, the end results might have looked quite different. That being said, Ann Sophie's songs are selling the best on Itunes with Alexa as her closest competition, so it's also very possible that nothing would have changed even if they restarted the competition from the semifinal stage.
