She LIKED :mk: (after HATING it in the semi, somehow?)

Mums are the best. During Germany this silence filled the room and I looked over at my mother who was intently following the song with this look of.. love and utter adoration on her face, and I felt like she was getting quite emotional with it. She didn't say a word but I sensed she'd just been moved. Then during the voting recap she was like "oh that one was horrible".

Mums are very fickle. XD My mum is the exact same. When I showed her the recap in March she declared eternal hatred for Australia and our own entry, UK. As well as saying as usual the songs aren't all that good and only a few were tolerable. Then last night she was in literal awe of Australia and flipping tables at our robbery because the song was apparently quite decent and him an amazing singer. I dare say she even said San Marino was fun back in March, but last night said Serhat was a terrible singer and the song would be better with someone else. To top it off, going on to say for once it was actually a strong line up of songs and enjoyed them. Some ofc like Iceland she still thought was one of the worst things she's heard and even left the room and still really liked Denmark but still a near enough total opposite of what was said in March. She was even all up on Azerbaijan saying it was great when she didn't rate it in March for the high voice.

my brother watched 30 seconds of belarus during the first semifinal and declared his undying loyalty to zena, and his shenanigans included:

- asking if she won the show by the end of the semi;
- being convinced she would win after i told him she qualified;
- asking when she would perform in the second semifinal only to be told that wasn't the final yet;
- pestering me the entire saturday about when she would perform and if she would win;
- being genuinely shocked that she was second to last.

honestly iconic. also, my mother was genuinely impressed by kate and was surprised when i said she was only ninth place. and my 5 year old niece was in the room during hatari and she gave a negative number of shits about them. continued playing with her toys like absolutely nothing was happening in the screen. kids these days.

update: i went to tell him of #belarusjurygate today so he could know zena was upgraded from 25th to 24th and his reaction was "YES does 24th place get to open a show or something???". love someone as much as my brother loves zena.
