I live in the Umeå area in northern Sweden:
The city lies on the Ume River, near where it flows out into the Gulf of Bothnia:
The architecture is a mixture of both old and new. The city has burned down a couple of times during the course of history, so I don't think there are any buildings left from before the 19th century.
The town hall:
A fancy hotel:
Cinema right next to a really cool building with a tower:
There are several parks downtown and plenty of recreational areas scattered around the outskirts of town.
The center of town where most of the shops are:
Umeå is called the City of Birches, due to the massive amount of birch trees planted throughout the city.

Well Grimsby isn't pretty at all compared to all your towns.
Grimsby Docks, Once the largest docks in the world.
Old Ice Factory, only ice factory left in the UK with all it's equipment still in place. Some Scenes from the film Atonement was filmed there. It is one of the most threatened buildings in the UK because of it's dilapidated state. It recently also featured in a television programme about threatened buildings, it has apparently got funding to help restore it to its previous state and turn it into a museum with all its equipment as the main features.
Old Mill, Part of it has been converted to flats. In front is the Corporation Bridge.
The old Bull Ring, it's an old picture. The centre has been updated with a fountain.

Victoria Street, just in front of Freshney Place Shopping Centre.

Yarborough Hotel. Was a stop of point for Victorian holiday makers to sleep at while on their way to Cleethorpes.

Well, based on these pictures, I think it is a lovely place!
Really? O.O I would not advise coming here at all. They're the only decent looking place in Grimsby, the rest of it like Freeman Street is a dump with nearly everything boarded up.
Then the estates surrounding the town centre like East Marsh, West Marsh & Freshney Green all have high poverty rates and high crime rates.[MENTION=4386]anselm[/MENTION] : It looks amazing

Actually, what you posted here inspired me do a little "research" and I searched for some other images of your place and it just looks lovely Maybe it is "nothing" compared to places like London, Manchester, Liverpool.........but still, I think it is pretty awesome And that you have a privilege to live in such a lovely place

The Grim part?
Grimsby is actually named after a Danish Fisherman who founded the town back in the 9th Century AD, the town was then Settled by Danes. The town has a lot of history connecting to the Scandinavian countries, Apparently Grim rescued a Danish/Norweigan Prince called Havelok from his Uncle who had taken the throne, killed his sisters and was out to get him.MyHeartIsYours

I've only ever seen Grimsby from the ferry on the way to the Netherlands or Belgium leaving Hull
