Nice thread :D

My hometown is Nürnberg, Germany:

We have approximately half a million inhabitants. It's the second largest city in Bavaria.
Some (more or less) cool things about Nürnberg:

Christkindlesmarkt:

Rock im Park:
rock-im-park-buehnetyorc.jpg

Blaue Nacht:
blauenacht-10-c-92.jpg

(it looks totally cool in pictures but when you're actually there it's kinda boring because there are sooooo many people so that you can see absolutely nothing...)

Automated driverless U-Bahn which totally sucks because the doors only open for like 10 seconds and then automatically close and people keep on getting stuck between the doors, which can be funny sometimes if it doesn't happen to you
pof108_mass_ubahn1.jpg

Oh yeah, and the best things, of course:
3 im Weckla (with original Nürnberger Bratwürste)
3imweggla12-580x435.jpg

and Lebkuchen!

I write a story about the city which I love a lot! You can read it o skip :D

I am going to show you the city where I will 100% live in the close future
If I am not mistaken It was already mentioned here but let me do it again
I am talking about the 3d Biggest city in Russia - Ekaterinburg. It is also the capital of Ural Region and it has quite a long history. The population of Ekaterinburg is 1,424,702 inhabitants ( 2013)
First of all, Ekaterinburg was founded in 1723 ( 291 years ago) on the banks of the River Iset' ( Исеть) and named after Empress Ekaterina The First. During the Soviet Union times this city was renamed as Sverdlovsk after Yakov Sverdlov - a Bolshevik party leader . Speaking about renaming of the Russian cities I would like to say that it was quite common thing in past times. Most cities were renamed after leaders or party activists like ( St. Petersburg - Leningrad
Tsargrad - Stalingrad, Samara - Kuybyshev, Königsberg - Kaliningrad and etc. "-grad" in old russian meant city)
In 1991 The capital of Ural - Ekaterinburg again appeared on the map, but the name of the Oblast( a federal subject of Russia) still named as Sverdlovsk Oblast ( Sverdlovskaya Oblast) and most of Russians who was born in 50-70 still sometimes call Ekaterinburg as Sverdlovsk
Ekaterinburg has its own unique history and you can feel connection to it at every step. One of the most memorable historical events is Murdering of Tsar family. It happened here in Ekaterinburg in Ipatiev house and now instead of the house there is The Church on Blood in Honour of All Saints Resplendent in the Russian Land or just The Church on Blood.
Yekaterinburg_cathedral_on_the_blood_2007.jpg

I was here myself and the whole Church really impressed me a lot.
The architecture in Ekaterinburg is rich. Here you can see Buildings of 19th century and near it a new beautiful Skyscraper. Also Ekaterinburg has a lot of buildings which were built during USSR times.
YYkpSVshcIw.jpg

The mordern centre of Ekaterinburg looks simply amazing, my father, during our trips to EKB( cut from Ekaterinburg) ,often tells me that 20 years ago the centre looked completely different. There was practicaly nothing.
The "HEART" of Ekaterinburg( Center of the Centers) called "Plotinka" - dam in English.

Here are some Administrative buildings:

pCWmlm-BZm8.jpg

AVNNZ7FT5a0.jpg

The last one is Municipality of Εkaterinburg There is monument to Lenin in front of it and it is a place for meetings and protests I saw myself one small protest about Communism like " Let's have Communism again" 90% of such protests are not interesting to people. On the last photo you can also see people celebrating 290 years of their hometown)
The residence of Governor of Ural Region
LltVRgoic9o.jpg
It looks more beautiful from the front view
800px-Old_train_station_of_Yekaterinburg.jpg

Old railway station
Ekaterinburg is rich in parks and places for relax!
So I think I tired you with my speech just look on some pictures of the city.

Brussels is one of the most congested cities in Europe. Cars have free reign on most of the city, and we have been very slow in following the trend of making large areas car-free, which is so much better for the quality of life and the beauty of the city centre.

Anderlechtsepoort_0.jpg

Brussels nightlife is centred around the "Bourse" building (Stock exchange), just behind the Grand'Place. To protest against the cars in that area some people have organised street picknicks on Sundays. Now the city authorities are planning to make the area car-free, which will dramatically improve the place.

My other hometown (where my family mostly comes from and where I grew up), Gliwice, located in southern Poland, in the region of Upper Silesia. Better known as the city where the German SS staged a "Polish" attack on the radio station on the eve of WW II outbreak. The Gliwice Radio Tower is said to be the second tallest wooden construction in the world with its 118 meters. Here are some photos:

My hometown is in Bogor, Indonesia. It is located in Java Island, and very near to three volcanoes. It's not a big city and rain literally come down every day, we don't have a lot of sunny days although we are in the tropical climate area. These are the pictures of my hometown that I found on the internet :D
