This would set a dangerous precedent in my opinion, as it means that if anyone disagrees with a certain theme, they could force a poll to be held to essentially change certain rules to suit them. For me, the person that suggested the theme and the host (i.e. the person who executes the theme) are the two people who should have the power to influence the rules. Everyone else then has to abide by them.

However, I don't see why regions can't participate as they usually do in Spin-off.

The edition can be diverse even with regions, or monotonous with only countries, it depends on the songs not the flags.
The rules written by [MENTION=12510]esc87fan[/MENTION] don't say anything about a ban of regions.

I think it is not what you or me or anyone other want to see, but what rules suggest and if not, I think [MENTION=10742]daniels1000[/MENTION] suggestion is best - simply let majority to decide what they want. If I can't be honorable as theme suggester (despite Lak copied idea in exactly same way I posted it and did not overtake it and after that modify it, she just copied it and she wrote that ), let's wait for her too see what she thinks.

I think the best and most simple solution would be to wait for the the theme suggester (@LakZaNokte) to come online and let her decide what she wants.

That is after all how problems like these were solved in the past: the one whose suggestion won the poll, has the last say

A very good and valid point. Why even make stipulations and themes if they can be revoked by a poll.

It should ultimately be up to the suggester, LakZaNokte in this case, what the rules of the theme they suggested should be.

The main problem with only countries thing is that maybe some people wanted to send a Melodifestivalen song or a Melodi Grand Prix song but with Norway/Denmark and Sweden being already choosen, they can't. And that's a bit unfair, because the nordic NFs are not even close to be compared with other NFs. These NFs(MF, MGPs) are made in a different way, with more quality than quantity, and not just for the sake of choosing a song. Imo.

here's the thing:
when i suggested the theme, i had the possibility of regions on my mind.
very simple reason for that: with regions involved, more players could join in. with only countries participating, this will be a spin off with 10-ish songs.
as it is now, ppl can choose between only a handfull of countries, considering only some have nf's (many have internal decisions).
with a theme that excludes most of the planet in the start, why exclude every1 who would might join in?

i mean, we are only playing a game, it's not like anything we do here has any real connection with real esc 2

(btw, in this case it would be neccesary to know from which country specific region is, otherwise we will be lost )

i mean, yeah, regions are not really "in the spirit of esc" but that's not the point imo.
i would go for the option which allows more people to play and since we can't do it some other way, we can do it through regions.

this theme won't be up again anytime soon and it would be a shame if every1 that would like to join couldn't do that while it is very clear that many will have different ideas about songs that should've been in esc
