💛 Trivia of the day part 2/2 💛

Good evening guys, I hope you're all having a great Friday night ;) As I promised I am currently typing like crazy on my phone to report on the opening ceremony tonight. Please bear with me because we're having dinner and I try not to get caught!

I'll post pictures in spoilers because that would be a lot otherwise.

-

18:00: the opening ceremony started, the weather was nice. I wasn't able to arrive on time because I had last-minute calls and I just couldn't find my bow tie  Anyway, upon my arrival a sizeable crowd - onlookers, WLSC fans, photographers, journalists and security guards - had formed along the red carpet. Apparently every nation was introduced out loud and each participant walked towards the entrance of the House of Alchemists, posing and answering interviews along the way.

I didn't stay for long because it was way too crowded for me to approach the barriers, and the constant admirors' shrieking made my head spin after half an hour. Nonetheless, I managed to see a few of our stars, namely: Melanie C, Lorie and Miley Cyrus (see spoiler). I wonder if those three will sing during the show eventually.

I also saw the beautiful WLSC presenters Emma Watson and Taeyeon (see spoiler below).

And before heading towards the backstage entrance, I caught a couple of participants: Maluma (Arkodrë) and the Pussycat Dolls (Roseland). See spoiler below.

19:00: the cocktail reception was like a never-ending series of simultaneous interviews. Hand-picked journalists went from participant to participant to cover as many nations as possible. I mostly stayed in the background, but I managed to exchange a few words with Erika Vikman and BLACKPINK. They all are lovely! And someone caught @Edweis and I entering the building arm in arm! (see spoiler below)

20:00: the journalists left and the delegations were invited to enter the ballroom of the House of Alchemists for dinner while a band was playing Tybaltevan chamber music. If you aren't attending the event tonight, see what you're missing in the spoiler below. The menu is all about high-end gourmet cuisine, so you might want to grab a burger when leaving, but it's worth experiencing if you're not accustomed to it!

The King arrived around 20:30 to eat dinner in the same room as us. His table was more richly decorated and well away from the others, two waiters were standing nearby exclusively for him and only our Prime Minister shared his table. He didn't make any speech, he just wanted to draw the media's attention towards WLSC even more by attending the dinner. See his appearance in the spoiler below.

Table-wise, the Tybaltevan delegation was paired with the Pyreican one, hence why Edweis and I arrived together. It's been a while since we finished eating and we're waiting for the dancefloor to light up to party a bit. For now we're stuck at the table, so we're chitchatting and gossiping in the meantime.

And here I finish this post, my battery is running low and to be honest, I'll be too tired to do anything by the time midnight shows on the clock. I would have loved to have given you a better taste of the festivities, but it's a struggle to do so among the noise and fuss.

I wish you a great evening and look forward to seeing you for the show tomorrow!

Sincerely yours,

:giggle: Tuorem and Edweis, from our table :giggle:

💛 Trivia of the day part 1/2 💛

Hi guys, for me this Friday is the definition of being busy o_O but I shouldn't let you down now, so here is the first part of today's trivia.

First, if @Milos-BC @FabiESC @marc could help me to find their respective flags, that would be appreciated as I don't find them anywhere :( thank you in advance

-

This morning at 8:00, the allocation draw ceremony took place at the city hall. Prime Minister Edyta Toblerova, the TYBC director, the heads of delegations, Miley Cyrus, the Mayor of Gatineau and I attended it. I will spare you the usual formal speeches, congratulations and boring rules, and will directly inform you about what you're really interested in. Please find below the result of the allocation executed by your dedicated hosts Emma Watson and Taeyeon.

Each country was picked out of a giant bowl and then randomly given a half, and then randomly given a quarter. We resorted to this procedure to ensure a fairer way of deciding on the running order, please note this is just the allocation draw giving you an idea of when each of you guys will perform, the actual starting position of each nation is to be confirmed by the TYBC.

If you have complaints about geopolitical fraud, I would suggest you to contact random.org :giggle: Don't shoot me!

Since 20 nations will take part, a break will naturally occur between the 10th and 11th participants.

The Prime Minister insisted several times on the number of participating countries in the course of the ceremony, and since no further information was provided, I didn't realise it had more importance than it seemed. The tweets she's just posted give you the answer.

I guess it is safe to assume that - certainly for the first time in the history of WLSC - a host nation rejected the participation of another based on motives that have nothing to do with a song that already competed in the contest, aka the only valid reason why a nation might be put aside. You'll form your own opinion about this news, personally I doubt the "safety" issue is the main reason behind that move, politics are! I guess the King was unyielding on that matter.

Therefore, WLSC 204 will feature 20 nations (not 21) since Kamandé is officially out. Case closed. :( Tybaltevans and Kamandéans will rejoice, but for the international community, it will be another story. The Crown will have to accept the impacts the decision might have on our nation, WLSC or not.

On another note, the dress rehearsal planned at 10:00 went smoothly, I was told Solentoyan representative Nassi no longer suffered the backdrop glitch that had to be fixed yesterday evening.

As for the jury show, it started one hour ago. Il-Bidu's representative Holly Valance did perform very professionally despite her mic remaining turned off for a minute or so... We organisers agreed to allow her to perform again at the end of the show and told the juries to disregard what just happened.

Damn, something's gotta happen at the worst moment! We will make sure nothing of the sort will arise tomorrow  We apologise profusely to the delegation of Il-Bidu.

-

Thank you for reading, that's it for now. Tonight, I will report on the opening ceremony, provided I make it in time!

Sincerely yours,

:giggle: Tuorem :giggle:

I bet the only reason Holly got to perform again because I threatened to send Kim Woodburn to shout at you!

I admit I was scared. I don't take such threats lightly. :ROFLMAO:
Holly's second performance was flawless by the way. Now tell Ms Woodburn to chill, I'm old yet still too young to die now.

You're fine for now! But Kim has asked me to show you this message she has for you if any more issues arise:

It was such an honour to be invited to this hot opening ceremony xheat The House of Alchemist was truly beautiful and I had such an amazing time at the master's table in company of our host dear Tuorem. But don't try to sneak on us, what has been said at this table stays at this table.

I just talked to Uto about a potential LL for this edition :)

The LL will occur on Monday 14 September at 21:30 CEST.

We hope to see you guys attend that live show: it will feature the performances of all the 20 participating nations, exclusive presentations of our city Gatineau, as well as hot interval acts. All welcome!

For those of you who will not be available, I will post the additional content in this thread the day after ;)

@tuorem Will the show be up before the LL on the 14th?... I'll be leaving the country on the 15th. If not, which your post seems to allude to then i'll actually have to withdraw my entry because I wont be able to vote.

The show will be up today (12/09) in the afternoon. I just have minor things to work on before putting everything out. So you'll be able to vote this weekend.

The LL however is scheduled for 14/09.

This was a nightmare trying to select just 10 songs to vote for. Yet another WLSC edition where there's not a single bad song that I wouldn't want to hear again - the feels for the 9 that missed out :(

Same! I would like to thank you all NOT for making this lineup so right up my alley. I'm not saying that because I'm hosting, but this is legit the edition I've enjoyed the most musically-speaking so far (as far as my taste is concerned), usually there are songs I don't care much about, but not this time.

I'm not sure who I should leave behind yet, but it won't be pretty. :( I already feel bad about it.

On another note, I received PMs from Solentoya, Moisantia, Roseland and Kimmystan. Bear with me guys, I was absent yesterday so I'll go through your messages as soon as possible this afternoon.

And don't forget we have a LL tonight at 21:30 CET. It would my pleasure (and Uto's) to see you there. ;)

::sol voted the day the show was posted, also above as Tuorem states. It was for sure a good edition, a couple of songs I thought were a bit eh but as usual great quality. xbow

As i'll miss the results, i'll say now your hosting has been phenomenal. xheart For real, all these promos, hype, events and other extras you've added in have brought this edition to life so much. It's been so much fun to follow it to this point, I can't wait to see what drama will go down in the results. xheat
