I would love to see :es: winning. Its been 45 years since their last victory. And I've always wanted to go to Barcelona.
Spain would be nice indeed. They have shown some promise lately, I hope they can build on it. But a surprise win by Portugal would even be better, after all those years of unrewarded struggle. ;)

Portugal would be a great win. Hopefully they can send something great!

I based my guess on who had the best national final this year (a dubious method considering three of this year's top four were internal). I'm going for Norway. I think all four acts in their superfinal could have made top ten at ESC. That sort of standard of field has the potential to find a winner.

Mo and Knut most certainly wouldn't have and both would have been more likely to emulate Tooji.

I think we'll go back to the East. I voted for :ro:, but I think :am:, :ge:, :hu:, or even one of the Baltic countries could do it too.

ETA: I actually think :nl: will go back to their losing ways next year.

The countries that deserve most to win are :nl: and :hu: for all the effort they've put into Eurovision the past couple of years

Don't forget about :be:, lowyby :)

Well, but there might also be a shock winner, someone who did so bad in recent years and rises like a phoenix next year - maybe :pt:

Or, we have a winner who just recently won. There is a streak of already 13 years of different winners since 2001 now. That could come to end.

But of course, it would feel just right to see :nl: and :hu: winning.....

I was aware Mo was stretching it a bit. I think Knut had a chance though, although mid-table would have been most likely. At any rate, it was really strong national final.

Well, if they didn't won with Suus, it will be indeed hard for them. But never say never ;)

Hmm it was logical that Suus would go top 5 but she'd never win, because her song isn't "mainstream" enough, it's more a like it or hate it song

Well, to me it wasn't at all. It was so unusual for a Eurovision entry that I thought it'd bomb in the final : her way of singing, the song itself, her looks...
I meant that if Albania had the guts to send something like this, I don't want them to win with a "mainstream" song. Like this year, "One night's anger" was far from being instant, it failed yet it deserved to do well imo. Anyway I hope they'll keep on sending songs with great musicality and interesting structures.

Hmm, the song of this year wasn't mainstream at all indeed, but it was weak, it's a kind of song that I'd love to fall asleep with at the beach, that's all
I'd like to see something like 2008 of them again, loved that entry xheart

A bit early to predict the ESC 2015 winner, isn't it?

We don't yet know how many countries, let alone which ones, will enter in 2015. Once the final list is known (perhaps just before or just after Christmas 2014) surely the countries' choices of songs will play a part.

Some trivia worth bearing in mind though.

Seven countries debuted in 1994: Estonia, Hungary, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovakia.
The first of that group to win was Estonia, who won in 2001, i.e. 7 years after 1994.
The second of that group to win was Russia, who won in 2008, i.e. 14 years (in other words 2 x 7 years) after 1994.

Next year 2015 it'll be 21 years after 1994, thus under the above logic it'll be time for the third country from the seven 1994 debutants.
There are five of those yet to get their first win: Hungary, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia.
What's the betting it'll be one of those?

The take-aways from the poll:

Most people think the Netherlands will win, because they were the runners up this year. Well....

Second most people are from Britain and third most people are from France.

So, we really don't have a clue yet :D

Denmark got a bad place in 2012 and won a year later, Austria didn't make the final in 2013 and won a year later. Also Germany won after a very bad previous result. The same is true for Finland and Latvia.

Other countries won right after a previous success or even a period of success.... - Estonia, Ukraine, Greece, Serbia, Russia, Sweden, Norway and Azerbaijan.

It might go either way, but I don't see a country with a recent streak of success, except for maybe Holland or Hungary. It's more likely that a flopping country of 2014 wins next year .....
