Lets not forget that the BBC let the Rina rumours go on and grow for weeks upon weeks to a point that anything other than Rina would be disappointing. I'm not the least bit surprised that tonight turned out to be a dud.

I just had an imaginary fish and chip supper with Jane McDonald and she told me she had a big announcement to share on X (formally known as Twitter) soon. She then right before my eyes burst into a magnificent rendition of Conchita Wurst's Rise Like A Phoenix. Something must be brewing. Is this the year?

There are now suggestions that the whole announcement was pulled at the last minute because either the BBC or the artist weren’t ready.

I personally think Scott Mills will get the first announcement seeing as he’s moving to the breakfast slot on Radio 2 as of Monday - typically, Ken Bruce would have had first dibs before.

To be fair given the evidence at the time and the fact it was all but confirmed that it was going to be her in an interview a few months after the Finals it was less a case of them letting them go on and on and more them trying to use it as viral marketing only for it to back fire when Rina/her management didn't get back to the BBC in time to become the official act.

Silly RainyWoods. She's obviously teasing an entry in 2026, where she's already been confirmed. She has no choice but to dodge "Zjerm," which would cause obvious problems for her.

The BBC somehow thought they needed to release a statement on the process of selecting an act/song:
- an internal selection process
- collaboration of BBC and BBC studios / partnered with "a leading UK music industry figure"
- working together with BBC introducing, songwriters, record labels, BBC Music
- act/entry wil lbe publicly announced before EBU's deadline in March

At the end, they also implictly asked everyone to refrain submitting their songs because the "BBC is not inviting members of the public to submit songs".

It's nice to get an "update" on UK's act but actually it's not saying anything new - it's great to read that they consider BBC introducing, though.

Edit:
Oh there's something "new" - even though it's the process of 2022, basically.

Leading UK music industry figure David May is leading the search with Andrew Cartmell, Executive Producer BBC Studios North.

David previously worked closely with the BBC team in 2022 as Manager of Sam Ryder when the United Kingdom achieved runner-up position at Eurovision in Turin.

May be because of the disappointment of Friday night with no reveal or tease after the Traitors final… everything seemed to point to it happening, but was pulled for whatever reason. We’ll never find out for sure though

Ah, you might be right about that one! - I forgot about that rumour.
I'm glad the BBC tries to be transparent, though.

Btw, I love your new avatar. I just pre-ordered the store exclusive album (I just hope that the "exclusive bonus track" won't be an acoustic version or remix). That cover is so much better than the "standard one".
I'm glad we're getting a new LG album in the same week when the last national finals of this seasons will take place.
So much new music to enjoy in early March xheart

I don’t want to say ESC Today has got this horribly wrong, but they have. The press release that went out earlier was just an updated version of the page for the generic Eurovision 2025 press page that gets updated as per news. It’s been that same page for months.

The update to the page was the hosts being added to match last week’s news. Nothing else new on it but it’s been presented as ‘new’ simply because the page was updated.

They do this with lots of shows press pages on the BBC. The Traitors was regularly being refreshed and appeared ‘brand new’ when one tiny line had been added or an is was corrected to a was as per the show.

Someone is risking their entire livelihood telling me this information but I have it on good authority that it's Barry from EastEnders
